Hi guys,

I need summer tires. So i did my research but I can't find what I want to see exactly !

I would like a wider tire than the OEM 205/40/17. I check 215/40/17 (Yoko S. Drive) and a few days ago i was looking for 225/35/17 Yoko S. Drive..both on 17x7 15spokes Ford wheels.

I know that the 215/40 would fit no problem. 5mm wider(approx) each side BUT there is the question..how ''bigger'' is the 225/35 ? I read similar thing on different website/forums and 225/35 is nearly no larger than 205/40.

Somebody have CLEAR pics with OEM wheels/15spokes with those sizes of tires ?
I'm not on lowering springs or coilovers. Stock suspension.

thanks a lot !

Some shops might not even install the S.drive 225/35-17 on a 7" wide wheel, since you are at least a 1/2" BELOW the MINIMUM wheel width (7.5") suggested for that specific tire by Yokohama.
Even though the tread width is not overly wide @ 8.1", the section width IS @ 9" wide, so that yields 1 full inch of 'pinch' on each side of your Focus Rally wheels, which when combined with the already very soft side wall construction of the S.drives, will be a VERY VERY 'mushy' turn-in experience.

But IF you want them for looks only, and a shop will install them for you (or you can do it yourself somehow), just also be aware that they are 0.3" SHORTER THAN our OEM 205/40-17s, so there will be even more wheel well to tire gap than factory stock. [:(]

The 215/40-17s are OK (but still not ideal) on a 7" wide wheel as per Yokohama, would be less mushy than the 225s, and actually fill up the wheel wells even more than factory size, since they are almost a half inch TALLER THAN factory size, and are only 0.4" narrower in tread width than the 225s. ;)

Wider than 205 on the stock wheels won’t mean more grip and will ruin the feel. If you want wider than a 205 then swap out the stockers for some 8 inch wide wheels
