He's right about buying the proper offset. However, if you still require spacers, buy ARP extended studs and have these guys make custom spacers for you: http://www.motorsport-tech.com/
I had them make 12mm spacers for me and they've been flawless through many track days. Friends also run the on RSRs.

+1 Spacers aren't the devil, use proper hub centric spacers with extended studs and you wont have any issues. ARP Studs & H&R Trak+ 15mm spacers is my daily setup.

Measure the distance between the current wheels and the guard. Lots of vids on YouTube show how to do this. Here is one from Eibach https://youtu.be/C7ez5-yt-zg

Then use a site like www.willtheyfit.com

Then you can put the current wheels specs in and play around with new wheel sizes to work out how to fill the gap you measured using the above method.

Also look at YouTube for channels like Fitment Inc who will have videos explaining some of the concepts you need to understand to get the fitment you want.
