So on my 16' fiesta ST ive had consistent worse performance on 93 as opposed to 91. Doesnt matter which map i have flashed in from my accessport. (Currently playing with cobbs maps, and its currently on the most recent update)

Any ideas as to why im experiencing the opposite of what everyone else has gotten?

I believe it's been said the 91 Cobb maps have a more aggressive feel than the 93. Go with one of the off the shelf custom tune.than both the Coobb tunes will feel weak

Problem is i have no ability to get a tune. No laptop, or PC. And not a lot of budget to play with the car much. ( got the AP used) so in other words im pretty much stuck with a car that runs like garbage on "the right fuel" and ok ish on 91. Sigh.

Make sure you are not using the economy slot. I believe it is slot 2.

Do you have an email? Is there a local library near you? You could load it there at the library on their computer or use a neighbor's or families computer at their house. It's so worth it man....I dont think you understand the step up you get with Flash tunes...compared to COBB. OTS .

Well ive tried the following now, AP has been updated with V5. I filled with 93 an chucked some octane booster in to compensate for the bit of 91 no ethanol left in the tank. Its on stock motorcrafts with .027 gap and loaded the 93 stage 3 slot. Seems to be acting ok currently.

Hey just wanted to jump in on this. I know it is not our tune but still just wanted to let you guys know you should not use octane booster or additives in fuel on these ecoboost engines. In the owner's manual it will state that information. Also I am trying to figure out how 93 is giving you worst performance. Now even if lets say there 91 tune is more aggressive then 93 running the 91 tune with 93 octane gas should still give you a better result. Now in our tunes if you put in a higher octane then what is in tune it will advance timing on its own when seeing higher octane. But in general you should always get more power and better economy off of a higher octane.

octane booster is a no-no. other than the deleterious effects to your fuel system, its also only a point increase. as in increases octane by a number to the right of the decimal point.

Damn. I knew that octane boosters didn't do a huge amount of stuff, but I didn't realize that they are less than useless.
Fancy looking bottles for snake oil.[:(]

There honestly shouldn't be much of any difference between the 91 and 93 tune, they're nearly identical in terms of performance. I don't have a FiST Cobb tune with me at the moment but comparing the FoST 91 and 93 Cobb tunes the only difference is the 93 tune runs a whopping 1 degree more timing (globally for some reason) than the 91 tune. I can almost guarantee it is the same case for the FiST tunes.

That applies to nearly every additive for vehicles, to be fair. Just save your money!
I've seen some impressive stuff. I've seen engine oil consumption massively reduced, oil leaks almost eliminated, transmissions function again, power steering pumps work again, fuel injectors cleaned out to the point of several miles per gallon increases.

I will agree 100% with this statement....There are some that work and some that don't.

I worked in a shop where this old woman brought in a Chevy cavalier it had 50,000 miles on it the engine was completely locked up. The owner of the shop bought the car and decided to take the valve cover off he poured a bottle of seafoam on it before he left. The next morning we were able to turn over the engine. The engine was just full of varnish and gunk seafoam cleaned it out.

I don't consider cleaners to be additives, so I guess I should mention that. On that note, I've had great success with injector cleaners and pouring seafoam to the crankcases of higher-mileage engines a while prior to an oil change - for example, on a 1947 MG TC where a seafoam treatment helped reduce valvetrain noise by freeing up a sticky lifter, and also smoothed out the idle.

As with everything, there are caveats and exceptions. I'm a fan of simple solutions for simple purposes, but I never trust anything billing itself as a panacea and the evidence usually backs me up on that. 95% of the stuff you find on shelves will do nothing but lighten your wallet, at best. And at worst, eugh.
But what do you do with a cleaner? You essentially ADD it to another product or device....Hence the word additive...

Yeah and you ADD fuel to your gastank, but it is not an additive, now is it? I also ADD my foot to my throttle, but I don't call it a pedal additive. ;)

An additive is something meant to improve the quality of what you're adding it to, typically a fluid like your oil or gas. Things like "friction reducers" and "octane boosters." A cleaner is a detergent, typically just using that fluid as a medium to perform its intended purpose of breaking up and removing sludge and buildup. Cleaners are not billed as, sold as, or intended to be used in the way that additives are. That is the way I make the distinction.
Yes ...its an additive to given the engine the ability to generate power into motion to make the vehicle. You Add your foot into the Throttle to give the car feedback to get it to move....Pretty much everything you do...your adding to something ....hence being an additive yourself.

Does this statement apply to Race Fuel Concentrate as well such as Torco or Race Gas?

Yes even on a 93 tune we have had some customers put ms109 in and have seen an increase. Now of course they mix just a few gallons in a tank. Also some applications we have a 100 octane race tune that you have to run 100 octane at least. But ecoboost motors can add and subtract timing on its own when seeing different octane levels. On a stock tune it can even go all the way down to 87 octane but on a performance tune still do not go under what the tune calls for. Not as much flexibility as stock tune for the decrease. Let me know if there is any other questions you guys may have. Thanks

I don't have a tune but when I first bought my FIST I ran 89 octane- "mid grade". It is .50 more than regular 87. 93 octane, premium is at least .70 more a gallon here but when I changed over to 93 I noticed a considerable increase in performance and also slight increase in MPG. I will use only 93 in the car now.
