Due to some construction I've had to drive several times through very deep gravel. This has given me what looks like tons of curb rash on all 4 wheels, inside and out. Is that worth repainting and refinishing, or should I just replace the wheels?
And I've never had wheels refinished, do you drop off the whole car or do you have to leave just your wheels with them for the duration? It's all new to me - educate me! For what it's worth, if they need a full repaint I might just go with bronze :p

Well....do you have the money for new Wheels? It's at least $750.....powder coating them is Half that from a good reputable coater. That and you can make them any color you want! You usually have to being them Bare to the coaters. This is why I found a mint set of Stockers/Rado wheels and used my old stockers as winter wheels. I have a thread out on my Gold Rubbed bronze stockers also Beasty. Here's s pic though....they sparkle gold alittle in the sun!

I've never had to get wheels refinished, but I'd look into replacing them.

If you're going to have to drive through more of that gravel, you might be better off going with a 15" or 16" wheel with a taller sidewall to help protect the wheels from getting chewed up.

Also, I just assumed with the way you've talked about your cars that you'd go with a more customized/personalized look.

4x108 doesn't give you a ton of options, but there are a lot of good looking wheels available. I'm really happy with my 15" Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2's in bronze.

I'm into flying under the radar/sleepers, so I tend to keep stock wheels/stock externals as much as possible - bronze stock wheels would be a big cosmetic mod for me :p

My favorite cosmetic mod of all time was having one of my cars' factory steel wheels cut and widened. They looked bone stock but were much beefier :D I was pretty proud of that one.
Hmmm.. widened factory-looking steelies for the fist? WITH HUBCAPS! :p

Dig it! I'd probably go a little lighter. Makes sense though, I can probably just pick up a set of beat up stockers and get those all pimped out. The blue/bronze is always sexy, makes yours look like a baby wrx wagon!

Barely used OEM wheels seem to be worth nothing. You could get a spare set to mess around with off the car then sell your not mint other wheels for about the same money.

If you are going to beat them up on gravel thenI think most of the DIY jobs wont hold up that well, PC would likely be a lot more durable.

Or keep two sets and DIY the backups everytime the set you are running bothers you. Might want to find a freind with a tire machine if you go that route.

I hope to get $300 out of my OEM 17's if I am extremely lucky. Nobody wants them and the 4x108 17 market is about as tiny as it gets.

New smaller Sparcos for cheap is probably the most cost effective plan.

I fixed all 4 of mine with minor rash and painted them Pearl plumb. (Paint not powder coat) The company I work can do both, repair and paint or powder coat. Full repair and paint for all 4 will cost around 600$, powder coating will cost around 800$

I got my BRAID wheels done in high gloss black after I'd ordered them in matt black. I got them powder coated here in LA for $600 because of the brake dust sticking in the pores of the matt black paint. Never been happier!
