Rear quarter panel replacement

So, got out of a late class around 10 pm last night and someone tagged my car in the parking lot. No note, just a misaligned rear bumper and a dent in my quarter panel that cracked the paint:

Obviously I want it repaired, but since I’d have to pay a deductible and have my insurance rate go up it’s got me wondering if this is something I could do myself with a little support from a paint shop. Wondering if anyone knows if I can just pop the whole rear quarter panel off and replace it with a decent one I could pull at a junkyard, and just have a paint shop paint it since I doubt I’ll find a molten orange donor car.

Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

Gross....go get an estimate on the Repair....if it's more than the deductible I'd do it....who do you have for insurance? I have Had the same happen to me with another vehicle and it turned out to be really expensive due to hidden damage that wasn't seen until it was taken apart. I have had the same insurance for 19 years.....mine didn't go up one bit and its progressive. Plus if that's molten orange it's a 3 stage paint job and hard to match.

I’ve got Allstate, I’m just worried because my girl totaled her car a year ago on the same policy, so we made our policy worse so we weren’t paying a crap ton and now our deductible is 1k so if I can fix it for even half that by pulling a part myself I’d prefer to go that route.

She totalled it? Or someone else hit her to total it?

She was at fault, U turn at an intersection that had a “no U turn” sign.

Me and my BAE are on our own separate Ins. Plan...I have two cars on mine and she has the house and the car on hers....I'd put her on her own Ins. Plan if it was me.

Hahahahahaha unfortunately we only have insurance for 3 things, 2 cars and a renters policy so the most cost effective way was to just do everything on the same policy.

wow, you did the "I'll park as far away from a-holes as I can" and still got tagged. Sadly it happens...can't have anything nice. Others just have ZERO respect.

That's funny, I went to progressive for a SCRATCH and they added a Benjie to my monthly premium. OP, I suggest you get it fixed on your own. The increased price of insurance isn't worth it. Shop around for quotes.

Body shop for repair. That quarter panel is a welded/glued on structural panel. If you decide to not go through insurance shop around and get estimates from other shops, and also look at google/yelp reviews for those shops as well. Your damage isn't that major but you'll kick yourself having to pay to fix it again if you have bodyman Joe Schmo fix it in his garage and the paint flakes off in a year.

Yeah, I’m handy with a wrench but auto-body is out of my realm, I was kinda hoping i could unbolt it, find a donor panel at a wrecker and have the panel alone resprayed.

So I’ve taken it to a couple of body shops, estimates range from $2000-$2800 with the usual qualifier that it may go up from there. The shop that quoted me $2000 told me that if I wanted to pay in cash and not involve insurance that they would work with me on price. Probably looking at a repair sometime in the next month or so. I’d been planning on getting some enkei j10 in 16x7 but it doesn’t look like that’ll happen this year. Maybe I can still budget for dampers though.
