Front & Rear lower brace

Hello Everyone,

What is everyone’s thoughts and experience on a front and or rear lower brace? Makes a difference or noticeable in spirited daily driving? Or mainly track duty? Any NVH caused? Or makes the car less comfortable to drive or requires more effort? What are the Pros and Cons? I see many different brands and versions of them from a two point to a six point. What’s the difference and which is best? From what I understand the front and rear lower brace are really the ones that would make any kind of difference and the upper are more for show and no real benefits?

As always, Thank You

2 point...4 point.....6 point in the front all make a drastic difference in handling. The rear brace also tightens up the rear end. Both options are very good to do at the same time! Just depends on how much you wanna spend!

I have a 2-pt brace in front, a 4-pt Mountune mid-brace, and yesterday, I installed a Pierce trunk brace.

If you're not tracking the car, I'd start with the trunk brace because it seems to make the bumps on the road less obnoxious. If you track the car, the front brace (in any form) is really important for minimizing wheel hop and torque steer.

The only downside of the front braces is that they may occasionally bottom out. There's no risk of that with the Mountune mid-brace, but I don't think installing it, by itself, will be as effective as a front brace.

Thanks brothers, Is there a lower rear brace option or the rear would be the trunk brace? Any brand better or worst and or more effective? Is there an added NVH associated with adding a front or rear lower brace?

A rear sway bar helps keep the rear composed. Overkill for a daily driver, but very handy on the track.

NVH for any of the above is a non-issue. I recommend the trunk brace to reduce "H" ;)

Got it and makes sense, so safe to say a 2 point lower front brace would make a noticeable difference in handling even during spirited daily driving? Also to add the trunk brace for what you mentioned and also compliment the lower front brace?

I think that's a good way to go. If you've ever experienced wheel hop, the front brace will tame it at minimum and will probably eliminate it.

Any thoughts on a lower rear torsion bar? Just in general or compared to the trunk brace?

A torsion bar is an alternative to a rear sway bar -- one or the other, not both. Having come from the Honda world, I opted for a sway bar, and I like the Hotchkis but I'm sure the Eibach is also a good choice. It helps the rear stay more composed. On a daily driver, it may not be very noticeable, but it definitely helps on the track.

I have the torsion brace and a 2-pt front brace. The 2-pt is one of my favorite mods on my car, would recommend that one for sure. As said above, the only downside is occasionally bottoming out the suspension and scraping the bar on the ground. I do it every couple months, just scratches up the bar a little. Not a big deal

Here's my review of the TB front and rear braces installed at different times.

TB Performance 2-point Traction Bar + Tostion Bar

I haven't scraped the front brace yet and I drive on pretty bad roads (stock suspension but bilstein coils awaiting install).

Pros: wheel hop gone, torque steer greatly reduced, faster steering response, increased steering feel, car stays 'flat' in turns, road imperfections deflect the car less. The car feels like it has sway bars and is more 'solid' feeling. Confidence inspiring.

Cons: slight nvh increase in steering wheel, lose a little forgiveness when it comes to driver error and sudden inputs, oil changes are a little more messy. More potential for tickets. Probably will cause you to want upgraded motor and trans mounts.

I love these traction bars and they add confidence, ability and playfulness to the FiST. You'll really notice your motor mounts after this and combined with my powerflex inserts and rmm it turns the fist into a handling beast.

Thank You for the detailed review and your experience, greatly appreciate it.

With the oil changes being more messy, do you literally mean messy? lol! Or is it difficult to get to the oil filter and drain plug?

So is the consensus that the lower front 2 point brace and the lower rear torsion brace are the better more effective choice rather the the upper front and rear?

Also which brands are better all around for performance, oem fitment / install/ placement, durability and no NVH?

The 2-pt and torsion brace on my car are Pierce Motorsports units. No complaints about mine, both fit perfectly. Have not tried or ridden in cars with other brands. As far as NVH goes can't help you on that one. I have a cobb rmm, pmm insert, mbrp exhaust, torque solutions hangars, coilovers, 200tw tires and a rear seat delete. So the NVH for me is already pretty crazy lol

Tb or Pierce are the main options for lower braces. Great value and proven results. TBs 2pt and 4pt braces are supposedly more rigid and have slightly better ground clearance. Pierce offers options of 2pt, 4pt and 6pt front bracing. Rear torsion braces are the same performance wise both brands

I would honestly go with whoever has a better black Friday special

No problem with access to the filter or plug. The bar itself is in the path of the draining oil. Maybe I'm retarded but I just use a funnel now.

Brother,

When you say that after the front and rear lower brace have been installed. The Con you mention is less forgiving when it comes to driver error and sudden inputs. Do you mind going into a little more detail and explain? I have read that with the rear torsion brace the rear of the car breaks out a lot easier and more often compared to stock. Just trying to figure out the best set up for me and make an educated decision.
