Never thought I'd own a Ford until I drove the FiST at the Ecoboost Challenge. I was waiting for the Type R to show up in the U.S. Didn't think it would happen. Still think we're getting a watered-down version, but that's neither here nor there.

I traded in my 2010 Mazda mx5 that was pretty heavily modified from stock. I was only half assed looking for another fun car, as the mx5 was going to run me another 6k at least and in order to get any real power out of its engine.

One morning I happened across "The Smoking Tire" YouTube videos about the FiST and I started looking online via Autotrader to see where I could find one for a good price. I found a brand new one being advertised online for $18,300, called to confirm it was there and priced accordingly, drove it, saw the potential, and purchased same day.

I sold my mx5 for 13k, and financed less than 8k 0% interest on a brand new base model FiST. It's my 1st Ford, and I am loving it.

It's great to see how many new people the FiST has brought to the Ford fold. Meanwhile, I've just bought my fifth... and the FiST becomes purely the daily driver.

Technically it's my first Ford. Bought my wife a Lincoln MKZ last year. Not sporty at all, but for an entry level luxury car, I was impressed. Best bang for the buck. I will definitely buy Ford again. I'm now a blue oval guy.

Sadly, I drove a 92 Ford Tempo with 88k miles on it for almost 2 years. It was such a piece of shit, but the interior was flawless and the miles were low because some old lady owned it. The first winter I owned it was miserable as the thermostat was shot and the car had 0 heat. The temp gauge on the dash was pegged at the very bottom every time I drove it. Then I found out the radiator was cracked and leaking coolant. I've owned a 95 Buick Skylark coupe, a 00 Dodge Stratus (I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!!), a 92 Dodge Dakota Sport with 180k miles on it (still has a spot in my heart), a 92 Ford Tempo, an 07 Scion TC (I wiped out at 75mph on the highway), and that lead to my FiST. This is, by far, the best car I've ever owned.

No. First one was a 1973 Mercury (German Ford) Capri V6, easily the worst piece of shit car I've ever owned, and I've owned a bunch. I swore I would never buy another Ford.

Have to say, now I'm glad I did.

Damn... pity you say it was rubbish. The Capri is such a good looker. I'd love an RS2600/3100 example...

Dude, you have no idea. I will admit it was a sharp looking car, even with the black vinyl top. I put some glasspacks on it and that V6 would bark (although I'm sure my neighbors hated it). It wasn't that fast but it sure was fun, at least when it was running.

Everything that could go wrong went wrong. Example: I was in a buddy's driveway about to back out and the shifter came off in my hand when I attempted to go into reverse. I had to drop the gearbox to fix it and it spilled all the fluid in his driveway and pissed his mom off mightily. The seatback broke when I was driving down the road. For about 2 months, I had to hold onto the steering wheel for dear life to keep from going into the back seat. The sunroof knob broke off when I was opening it one day. I won't get into all the electrical gremlins. I replaced the alternator, water pump, radiator and Lord knows what else. I try to forget about it.

Ouch... that's a desperate pity. Such a good looking thing... and a nice car when properly sorted. Maybe yours was a 'Friday' car?

"Friday" car? Perhaps. My guess it was a "Monday" car, after the entire assembly line spent their paychecks on a weekend orgy of booze, hookers and blow.

I've had 3 fox body stangs - 85 notchback 2.3/auto which was my 1st car, and I had two 89 LX hatches - both 5.0/5spd cars. I wanted mass air and a tilt wheel, and '89 is the only year that had it.
