This is the same playbook and talking points. Mining lithium ruins the environment. EV's will take the grid down. EV's burn brown energy so they are just as dirty as ICE cars. What are we going to do with all of these spent batteries!?
While some of the above is a challenge, some is incorrect, and some is the opposite of reality, what is *complete* BS is stating that folks aren't thinking about every aspect of a move away from a brown economy. To make statements such as "no more power stations are being built" or assuming that the only way we'll ever refine lithium is with current extraction methods or that lithium is end-state are just examples of a calculated mis-understanding or ignorance of the EV ecosystem.
Current EVs are not ideal, but any movement in reducing the release of sequestered carbon is better than thinking that current-state won't continue to effect the environment.
