This "go fast in a straight line" business is really hard on mechanicals in a way road racing is not.
You can only have bullhorns scorch your eyebrows so many times before it gets boring and every run is the same. super monotonous.

It also proves that STi's are much less durable than people think they are, particularly STi models (ring land failure anyone? there are lots of horror stories trying to throw cobb under the bus when the reality is stock stis were having ring land failures... it's also why a friend got rid of a 300+whp 2.5'd WRX wagon and got a Focus ST. The Subaru had coilovers and sway bars and stock, the FoST handles better. Subarus are fast but when pushed hard they don't hold together well. It'll put up with being thrashed on a rally in stock form but you demand the motor make more boost than its capable of and its rally pedigree is meaningless

so what did you do that triggered Limp Mode?

I started to get wheel hop. and before I could let up the engine died for a second and came right back up. if you watch the video, about 2-3 sec after light goes green you see my lights dip down just a bit that's when it died. like 40-50 feet off the line. looks to be seconds 10-13 ish

Too each their own in this regard personally I love turning left and right (though not very good) I have been at NHRA events with a ex Inlaw that was running stock A corvette and got to see the top fuel cars up close and that aspect of it is fun if you are into it. Then I have been at Road America many time even seen some big name folks up close in the padock area .. What ever floats your boat is what I say if you live life 1/4 mile at a time or 24 hrs at a time it all good as long as it is safe and FUN... I am sure we have gotten some good toys from the drag race guys too like maybe launch control or some type of gadget that will drain my bank account LOL

my wife told me guys in the crowd laughed when they saw the Fiesta pull up against the 330xi, just to hear then say "NO F'N WAY" as I beat him lol.
I guess they never heard of the FiST.

Guys I go the drag with don't go to the road track. plus the track near us charges an arm and a leg im told. to go dragin only costs 60$ with entry and gas.
but I would love to hit the curvy track. ST wasn't built for 1/4 mile, I just think its funny to see the things I can beat.

LOL yep of course he got raped
he's just a 330. If he had a 335 it would be a TOTALLY different story. ECU tune plus one or two bolt ons is +100whp and +120wtq- fact. It's almost unfair how much power N54 motors get out of their mods.

But then I wrench on my car and appreciate how easy the Fiesta is to work on for a modern car. Even compared to the Focus, SO MUCH EASIER.

Yep. 330xi had k&n filter with his charcoal filter removed. And catback streight through exhaust. I have cobb st1 on 91oct.
i cant wait for ATP stg 1 GT package.
