This "go fast in a straight line" business is really hard on mechanicals in a way road racing is not.
You can only have bullhorns scorch your eyebrows so many times before it gets boring and every run is the same. super monotonous.
It also proves that STi's are much less durable than people think they are, particularly STi models (ring land failure anyone? there are lots of horror stories trying to throw cobb under the bus when the reality is stock stis were having ring land failures... it's also why a friend got rid of a 300+whp 2.5'd WRX wagon and got a Focus ST. The Subaru had coilovers and sway bars and stock, the FoST handles better. Subarus are fast but when pushed hard they don't hold together well. It'll put up with being thrashed on a rally in stock form but you demand the motor make more boost than its capable of and its rally pedigree is meaningless
