I'm sorely tempted to go and do this when I go to the UK next year for a car rally. Will have to check on flights and a hotel for the thrill of a lifetime.

Can you just turn up and drive or is a reservation required? I saw that flights from the UK are cheap and the close hotels are reasonable.

You show up, do some signatures, they put you into a classroom to go over the do's and don'ts and what to do if something happens. Then they give you the helmet, keys and card to the gate and then you drive. I had a reservation, I drove the Fiesta ST (our gen)

I did this through RSR Nürburg a few years ago and had a blast. Super easy process
It was super easy and I was super satisfied. At RSR Nürburg they know how should handle the customers.

That 1.5 3cyl actually sounds really good from the interior video I've watched so far :)

Unfortunately, the rally I was to drive in last June for my former Army navigator, in his ''67 Hillman Imp,I was unable to go because he passed away in Aug after he informed me that he was dying of cancer and would have been unable to carry out his navigational duties. After the event, I was going to go to the Ring and rent the Fiesta for a blast. Still on my bucket list, as is my other wish to drive the Nissan GT-R in Vegas at the track. Anyone know of a nice place in Vegas to stay overnight instead of being ripped off by the casinos with their 'RESORT' fee?

I was invited by my old Army navigator to drive his 1967 Hillman Imp in the 4 day, 2024 Three Castles event, in June, run out of Llandudno in North Wales. However, he had been suffering from Stage 4 lung cancer which took a turn for the worse and we had to cancel our entry. Sadly, he passed away 2 months later. Best navigator I ever had the pleasure of working with. Had I gone, I was going to treat him to a ride on the Ring with all expenses paid for.

Just to add to this, he and I entered numerous international police rallies in Belgium when we were stationed in Moenchengladbach. We entered the first one in my newly purchased Vauxhall Chevette HS2300, rented a Ford Escort from an Air Force guy, rented a Belgian owned Citroen Visa and used an Army half ton Land Rover twice. One year, we had a special stage of 7kms in length using part of the Spa Francorchamps race circuit and beat our closest L/R team mate by 45 seconds. Really hard work but enjoyable, especially when the rally was run during the night from around 6pm to 6am on public roads that weren't closed. His pace notes were impeccable and so good, other competitors wanted to buy a copy of his notes, but he refused all offers.
