Had some really ancient gasoline in the tank.
Had more torque but there was some low-RPM ping'n.
What I didn't know was, gasoline looses octane as it ages.
Good thing it started out as premium fuel.
Interestingly, even diluting that old fuel down by 50% (added half-tank of premium) wasn't enough.

Lesson here is, if you're getting LSPI issues on a stock setup, you got junk fuel.

I just filled up at a Sunoco on Route 1 in Edison, N.J. with their 94 octane which was priced cheaper than the Shell V Power 93 I usually use.

I hope this is not a scam like LilPartyBox was warning about, but it is a very busy station on a major highway.

So I am hoping not, and it's simply that they make up in volume what they lose in price gouging (like the rest of the Sunocos around this area do when they price their 94 sometimes over a dollar more per gallon than most brands' 93).

“…Gas station owners are scamming consumers at their own risk, as the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection can impose fines against businesses that violate consumer protections.”

CAN IMPOSE 🙄You would think this would be happening frequently enough to deter owners. However, since it’s 702/729 stations in the report, I’d wager there’s a good chance there is broad scale corruption in that sector or it is simply cheaper to pay a fine (if it doesn’t shut you down). Good on R&T for spreading the word.
