As the title says I just did a new rear motor mount. The car has been nearly stock for the last 7 years of ownership. While doing maintenance, struts, both belts and other stuff in that mode of operation. I decided to a vibra-technics fast road rear motor mount. On a whim. Not really a whim a rrm has been on my radar since the first few days of ownership. I had no complaint about the old mount besides it being as not stiff as it was designed to be. I found good reviews for the mount. While it's bearable the drone, especially when the ac is running will totally cancel out most of my stock stereo. The radio is stock, I like the stock stereo. I can't tell if it's making any bass going down the highway or freeway. Especially with the ac on. Heck sitting still with the ac on it drones out. The radio still works, I checked. At slow speeds with the climate off I can hear the radio decent.

I took me several days to get the timing belt done. All that while the passenger mount was off with the engine being supported with a jack I did crank the motor up and down with the jack to get to some things.

Am I having a normal experience for a new rmm? Or is there possibly something wrong going on? The car has had 500 or so miles. I'm trying to sort the car for a trip. And at this point I may put the stock mount back in. It's going to be a long trip if listing to the stereo is not enjoyable. Any input would be appreciated. I didn't expect nearly as much drone as I'm getting. Stock exhaust still too.

doesn't sound right to have that much vibration. i've got a cobb rmm on mine, and there was a little more at idle, but barely noticeable. a quick google for the vibra-technics, sounds like feedback is similar. i noticed that there is some disassembly of the OEM one to reuse the bracket for the fast road. did you do that part?

Sounds like your exhaust is not stock. Plug your SymPOSER. Look for excess engine movement and replace the affected mount(s). This is how I spotted a bad passenger side mount. Depending on how much the engine was moved around on the jack, may want to check the driver side mount for the transmission.

Thanks for the posts. I followed the installation instructions. Besides the trouble I had with the exhaust braket installation went easy. I didn't do the re-torque yet. I removed the mount today. I'm going on a long road trip and don't need the drone.
Yep I do have different exhaust hangers. Stock exhaust though. I thought about that after the post. It's been a several years since the stock exhaust hangers failed. I bought some of the jelly bean hangers. That's what I'm calling them. They are stiffer maybe?? Definitely stiffer than the failed srock ones. I didn't notice any extra noise when I put them on. I have koni orange shocks and struts now also.
Idk I got way more front end lift with the rmm. Maybe my mounts are done. Not sure that would make more noise. Either way it isn't worth it at the moment. Thank you for the responses. Not sure if I'll swap it back in or not.

Can you clarify a bit? You mention "drone" a lot, are you saying there is 1) vibration? and 2) the vibration is causing something similar to exhaust drone? And it overpowers the bass on the stereo? This sounds severe.

I'm all stock except wider tires, a plugged SymPOSER; and don't have anything close to a drone. Certainly nothing like a luxury car but it is moderately quiet. There can be a lot of noise leakage from the rear. Removal of the rear upper deck, rear lower deck, spare tire, putting the seats down, etcetera, can allow significant noise. Check the exhaust for leakage.

Well it's been a bit. I made my trip. It was enjoyable. I went and tried several motorcycle roads in south east Ohio.

The "drone" is a frequency like having open exhaust, but quieter. Like a bass guitar holding a note at moderate volume. There's reverberation going on also. But it's hard to distinguish anything specific. The noise I'm experiencing isn't an exhaust issue. My car isn't loud. After swapping out the mount back to stock the car is much quieter. It's not really quite, I have not plugged the symposer. My rear top deck has been gone a while now. One corner failed and it hasn't made it back into the car. But I've been driving it like that for years.
