Hi All!
This is my first post, I wasn't able to find any threads on my exact issue, or at least nothing that solved the problem.
car details: 2017 fiesta st, 63k miles, completely stock its whole life until I added an oil catch can. (Before this problem occurred, double checked hose routing before and after service)
background: I didn’t have this issue prior to taking my car to the dealership for a water pump and timing belt job. The day after getting it back, I have experienced a rattle at 2.5k-3k rpm. This occurs when sitting still in neutral, between shifts that match this rpm, accel and decel at this rpm in gears 1,2,3. When rolling and having the car in neutral and revving to the rpm range mentioned. It actually seems worse at that time.
What I have checked: coolant reservoir rattle, radiator rattle, lower trans mount, exhaust hangers, exhaust heat shields, cat mount, axels, radiator vent flaps, I’m at my wits end. It’s not aggressive but loud enough I can hear it in the cabin, but less when the door is open or windows are down. I fear it could be the trans? The last thing I did was put my foot against the driver side axel and rev the car and I could feel vibration through the axel that matched the rpm range rattle. The axel does have a little vertical play in it at the trans. The wild thing is that this was not there prior to service.
The car drives, shifts, pulls everting fine. Just rattles.
what on earth could this be? I’m worried it could be something terrible. I have only had the car for 2 months and it was completely fine before this. Came from Arizona. Flew out there, bought it, drove it home 28 hours in 3 days.
any help is appreciated. Thank you!
