4 day old battery required a jump start

The original Motorcraft battery went out on me last week. I got a Duralast Gold Battery from autozone and everything was fine.

Earlier tonight it was hesitant to start but didn't think much of it until I got a warning to pull over and turn off the engine and I had a blue progress bar on the display. It freaked me out and I pulled over as soon as I could. There was no power whatsoever. A co-worker tried giving me a jump but nothing was happening. I was finally able to get some response by having my foot on the brake and it started up and I drove home without any errors or issues.

Has anything like this happened to anyone else?

Is it possible I got a lemon for a battery or is it something else like an alternator perhaps?

Absolutley* Is there a Date code on the side of the battery? Did you put the battery in or did Autozone? The battery could've sat for so long that it didn't have sufficient charge when you bought it. Or the store manager wasn't charging and rotating the batteries as they should.

I don't have an AP3. I'm gonna go down there in the morning and borrow their battery tester.

The Kam reset* allows the vehicle to relearn itself after a repair has been made.

As a former employee of AutoZone they go through batteries so fast they never sit for long. I'd run their battery/alternator/starter tester on it and see what you learn.

Ditto* I don't know which one you worked at. But I was constantly catching new batteries being loaded from the front* Not the back.

Not our store...always loaded from the back. But we went through a ton of batteries.

Happened to me once with a brand new battery. after a jump it never did it again, so I assume I must have accidentally hit something while getting out of my car. I'd wait it out to see if it happens again then address it.

Have your alternator tested. Two batteries going bad in a week may indicated a problem with the charging system..

About the battery. There's Norry's Law: Just because it's new doesn't mean it's good.

I've left the button on even though I pushed it to turn the car off. I think I just didn't push it hard enough by mistake and the battery was flat dead the next day. I charged it back over night and it was fine. I also checked the voltage when running and starting and both were in specification so I figured that must be what happened.
