AP to laptop issue

So I bought a used unmarried AP on eBay and everything seems good with it but when I connect it to my laptop, accessport manager cannot find it so I can't connect to it. Any ideas what the problem could be?

happened to me too. after making sure the USB port was working, I had to use a different micro USB cable

Ok thanks, its a brand new laptop but the USB cord is pretty old. Guess I'll buy a new cord and hope that works. I assume that fixed the issue for you then?

Just went through this. Turns out some micro usb cables are power only. Be sure when you buy one that it is labeled for data and power!

I bought an Amazon basics one. Looks like it does data also.
