Factory CLD tiles?

In tearing apart the trunk to install sound deadening and the doors to install speakers I found factory installed CLD tiles strategically placed. Any info on these? They don't seem as substantial as the Kolussus I was putting in, nor do they really seem to be doing a great job, though I never felt the panels without them. (even with them in, the front doors feel like the flimsiest sheet metal I've ever seen in a car door, but the newest car I had before this was made almost 20 years ago). So, how good of a job are they doing? What are all of the locations? Would it be worth the time and effort to remove the factory CLD and replace it with better? Or install something better over the top?

I just put it over the top. It's not going anywhere so it seems like a lot of wasted time.

The front door are sealed off from the sheet metal. I took the midbass speaker out and put the CLD tiles on the sheet metal going through the speaker hole. Covered a vast majority of the door that way. Pretty easy.

I tried to take the plastic sheet covering the door off, but it didn't want to come off very easy.

My stereo turned out sounding sweet. The factory stereo blows.
