Hatch/Trunk Dent and Cover-Up

Long story short, I bought a used FiST last winter and had it shipped. There's about a 2-3 inch dent on the hatch/trunk. Seller claims it was the shipping service, shipping service claims it was already like that. Kinda beyond the point now, but basically it screwed me over on claiming anything.

It looks like it was dented or scratched, then they tried to cover it up with some paint or something.

Any suggestions on how to address this? See picture.

I'm guessing I'd have to replace the whole panel. Where could I get an OEM part or even an aftermarket part? How difficult is it to install?

It appears that most of the damage is on the part that would have the Ford symbol on it, and that is removable. I think it's 6 or 8 10mm that you access from inside. Try to search the rear camera install thread. You could possibly order a painted part from Ford. The scratching above where the license plate resides you will need to address with touch up paint.

Sorry, maybe the picture wasn't clear. It's left of the Ford symbol. Do you think it's still a panel that can be popped out/replaced?

PDR*/ Paintless Dent Removal...look for a local shop that does it and get an estimate and ask to see some of their work if possible.

Yes. It's replaceable. I actually went to look at my car and I think all of the scratches/blemishes you show are on the replaceable part!! I thought the lower section maybe separate but it's all one part.

I could not find the part on Whoosh's website, but here is a link to it on Tasca's website (part #1):

Trying to figure out which one I need. There's two parts listed, one with rear camera, one without. The camera installed on my FiST was from the previous owner and is an aftermarket one... does that mean I'd need the one without a rear camera?

I suspect you want the one with rear camera (AA) if you wish to keep the camera installed. Depends on which version of aftermarket camera was used, I guess. I've seen them built into the handle (similar to stock), ones that replace one of the license plate lights, and the add on ones built into a license plate frame.

Probably best to call Tasca or other Ford part department to verify.
