Having trouble removing an aftermarket shift knob

Hello, I just recently joined the Fiesta ST club and the car came with this aftermarket shift knob. I would like to replace because living in socal the all metal knob is gonna get hot. Anyway, for whatever reason i'm having a lot of trouble trying to unscrew this thing. I'm not sure if maybe there's a screw holding it in or what. Does anyone have any clue what kind of knob this is? or tips on removing it? Thank you.

They might have used locktite to hold it in position. Get some channel lock pliers and go to town. Leverage is your friend. I got red locktite off without heat using a really long breaker bar.. Check all around the base for a screw. If you don't see one, there isn't one.

I'd imagine it's screwed in since it doesn't look like there is a set screw. Maybe try grabbing a leather belt and sinching it knob and try twisting ot off. Maybe the past owner put locktite or something when installing the knob?

I used locktite on mine because the "tight" position of the threads left the shift pattern not proper, so I put a dab of the green shit and let it set in the proper position over night.

So hopefully they used green.

Yea a strap wrench would be good, if that doesn't work, channel locks and just have a useless knob

Alternatively use a actual pant belt, and then a set of channel locks to save the finish on the knob in case you want to sell or something. But yeah Dave has the right idea.
