I'm without a doubt a driving enthusiast, and I'm lucky enough to have some of the best driving roads in the US right at the end of my driveway. I've spent my time in autocross, road racing, and hillclimbing, but I mostly just irritate the locals on the backroads, now. I live in the Southern Appalachia/Blue Ridge Mountains area of North Carolina. I've never really been a "brand guy", but I've always bought Fords when looking for daily drivers. In addition to the Fiesta ST, I have a Fusion and an F150 (all black, but not on purpose).
At one time I was lucky enough to be part of a Ford off-road racing team in SoCal, and had a highly modified pre-runner style Ranger 4wd. I cut my teeth in a 65 Falcon V8, with a built 302 - this car was my "toy" in college, and I did a bit of drag racing (some on the track) with it.
My new car is meant to be my daily, and I don't plan on too many mods, but my son-in-law is a Cobb Pro Tuner..., We'll see what happens. I've owned Mk1, Mk2, and Mk3 VW GTIs, all modified for autox or roadracing. I've also had a Datsun 510, and a BMW 2002 that were purchased stock, and "evolved".
I currently own a 1993 Miata, which is my canyon car, on its way to being a hillclimb car. Right now a new engine is being built for it, but it runs pretty good as is. It currently has a stock-internal 1.8 VVT swap, Rotrex supercharger with FMIC, all the necessary bolt-ons to extract power. AST/Xida coilovers, 15x9 wheels and 225/45/15 RivalS tires. It puts down 220/181 on a Mustang dyno, and weighs 2,100. Here's a video of it on a backroad, if you're interested.
So, that's about it. I look forward to reading all the wisdom (and other stuff) on here, and asking a few stupid questions.
