New fiesta st owner here. This will be my second car after owning an '01 Miata for around 5 years. I got a 2019 Fiesta ST in black. Just wondering what are some key words i should be introduced to or any quirks about the car I should know about.

Welcome! I bought my FiST 8 months ago; best purchase I ever made. It's the Miata of hot hatches. In my experience, this has been a really accessible community. Stick around this forum and the r/FiestaST Reddit and you should be covered forum-wise. There's not a lot of jargon floating around, considering that there's only one gen of the ST here in the US, but you'll pick up things here and there.

Considering it's a Ford, things are bound to go wrong here or there, but the 1.6t is a disturbingly stout engine, considering it's an Ecoboost. Just give her love and she'll last you a long time.

Fun car to drive in stock form, but just a few mods really makes it more enjoyable.

Welcome! Learn the words “blend door actuator.” Lol

It’s a great car. Going on 8 years of ownership and still zero unscheduled maintenance aside from the blend door which has been replaced twice.

It’s the only FWD car I’ve ever fallen in love with aside from my Volvo 850R which I still regret getting rid of. I’ll never sell the fist and will buy another if my next house has a bigger garage and my wife agrees not to stab me.

Great community here. We argue about a few things like any other forum but generally there is little to no drama here and everyone helps each other. Just stay out of politics and all will be good here. Reddit is helpful if you can sift through some BS. Don’t bother with Facebook fiesta groups, they’re full of mostly idiots so the little bit of good stuff on there gets lost in the sauce.

There is only one generation of the fist here in the states and it went mostly unchanged from 2014-2019 so most things you’ll want to know have been answered probably a dozen times on here. Don’t use the forums search function to find them, though. Search with your regular search engine, assuming you know how to search only for results from this site.

Welcome!! [wave]

In my opinion, i would get used to "purge valve".
Maybe I got extremely unlucky, not sure.

But not only did I have constant issues when I bought the car 3 months ago. But even my Focus ST had the same "symptoms" the Fiesta had before I replaced them.

Your car will stutter after every fill up.

I'm not sure how many people also received it. But I got a letter from Ford themselves 1-2 months ago for the Focus ST saying they will happily replace the purge valve on the Focus free of charge for the next I believe 8 years (15 years after the warranty start date) due to it being a common issue. Hoping I get the same letter for the Fiesta

Other than that, it's a great car. I know you'll love it!

welcome!

do full brake/slave cylinder flushes every 30-50k miles, it'll maintain the great pedal feel and keep the slave cylinder healthy. brembo or pentosin dot4lv imo

i've had my car since late october 2023 & it's been great to me. i love this thing :)

Welcome. My findings since I got my ST: If you plan to drive the car spiritedly a rear motor mount (RMM) is highly recommended to prevent the engine from smacking the bulkhead (firewall). If you want more performance the stock intercooler is the only serious weak point until you upgrade the turbo and will allow a Stage 2 flash tune which makes a huge difference. Any intake/exhaust upgrades will be for appearance/sound only on the stock turbo. Enjoy the car it's a blast to drive.

they should go get these:
Whoosh street-spec RMM (poly bushings)
whoosh upgraded IC
tune by Adam with TunePlus (get dual-fuel, E30 is miraculous)
