So I have an aftermarket camera that has been mounted onto my number plate light (which the light is now not working) surely I wouldn’t need a whole new casing for the light to work?
I’ve tried taking the casing off to see but the screws are so badly rusted I’m not sure if it will come off, just thought I’d ask here before doing anything else

I'd hit it with some penetrant spray to loosen the screws. If the light is out, you probably just need a new bulb. LED bulbs are cooler and don't heat up the plastic like regular bulbs can.
If you can find replacement screws, get something stainless that won't rust.

Dielectric grease helps protect metals by sealing out air and moisture. Anti-seize for the screws.

If you have effective seals, just use it on the seals. If you don't have seals, use it on/around the connections.

those aftermarket units usually just sit right over the factory bulb socket so your actual bulb is probably just blown since the screws are rusted solid try spraying some penetrating oil on them before trying to force them out honestly for how cheap the whole replacement unit is on ebay it might just be easier to buy a new one if you strip the screws
