The GTIs that model year came from the factory with a 16V head.

Did you have a full-on Oettinger swap, or do you mean that you had a base Golf and swapped a 16V into that, making your own GTI??

The GTI also came with 1.8
8V head. The Golf Rallye came with a supercharger included.

From '86 to early '87 yes, with NO 'option' for a 16V head, but every A2 GTI (we did not use 'Mk' to ID them way back then ) after that was ONLY available with a 16V head on the 1.8, with no 'downgrade option' for the 8 valved head.

(Or did VDub USA offer BOTH the 2.0 8 valve, AND the 2.0 16V as an option in the 1991 GTIs?? )

Yes, the Golf Rallye used the 8V headed version, including a forged bottom end, with the G-Lader G60 1.8.

Tim O'Neil actually owns one of these and had it on display at the 2019 NEFR ARA event.
