Does the black trim just pop off from the front or do you need to take the bumper off to remove it?
Just pulls off from the front. Start at one end, needs a little force to unclip.

Looks good!!! Did you do this with it without removing the bumper?
Yes, what I did can be done without removing the bumper, the grill I mean and cutting those small horizontal supports at each end.

You could always paint the IC black yourself. I got it from Amazon, I could of had black or black, lol.

Has anyone does this with the stock IC? Do the black end tanks show?

I pulled my grill off yesterday. Easy peasy. Yes the end tanks show. I love the way it looks. IMHO the grill does nothing to protect the intercooler, mine had some very large dings. I may ad mesh if I notice ti getting worse, but for now I just straighten the fins with some tweezer and a small flat screwdriver.

You can just see the end tank in the pic. I may add some black door edge trim to the verticals. I have some at work but I won't be back there for another two days.

I just pulled it off this morning to see and I like it with the end tanks showing a little bit. It definitely adds a little character to the car and pops out behind my red paint.
