Issues with fueling up.

I did a cursory search and didn't get much back, searching for fuel is difficult since it can be used broadly.

Anyway, on to the point:

The last 8 times I've put gas in my car, no matter how slowly or quickly I pull the handle it ALWAYS spits fuel out at me. I follow the instructions, put in nozzle, wait 5 seconds then begin fueling. It doesn't matter if I go half speed, full speed, tortoise speed it ALWAYS spits fuel out when it is full. Usually you can hear the fuel coming back up the neck when it's going to hit the shutoff, and I stop even before the automatic shutoff stops it, and it still spits at me.

What the hell am I doing wrong??????

Same gas station? Seems to me there is too much fuel coming up. I also shake the nozzle as pull it out.

I'm gonna sub to this. Haven't ever had this happen but interested to see the outcome.

Does it spit while the nozzle is still in, or as you are pulling out?

I would take it to the dealership. If this happens all the time, have the dealer try it out with their own pump and see for themselves.

I can't remember if it only does it when I pull the nozzle out because I get so annoyed that it happens all the time. I think it does but I'm not 100% certain.

I wanted to check if it was a common issue and I was just doing something wrong. Yea I'm probably going to give them a call this week.

Mine does all the time if fill up all the way. Pisses me off so I try to never even fill it all the way now. Nothing like ton of gas spilled all over place.

I've encountered this once only....it was like the 3rd or 4th time I filled up. It doesn't do it anymore. I'd bring it to the dealer or try a different station for fuel if you havent. I fill up at Bp's and never had an issue....they usually have 93 also.

Seems like you have a venting issue or something. I leave the pump in, wash the windows, do whatever and wait until the pump clicks. No spillage. Now, I never top it off after the first click... This is my 5th car with the capless fuel fill from Ford. I learned that lesson long ago.
There's an issue that the dealer needs to resolve.

Sounds like an issue with your EVAP canister.

I had a fiesta s sedan before I bought my fiesta st and they both do the same thing. When I asked my ford dealer about it they said they see it all the time and it is normal. Just don't fill it up all the way.

I put the nozzle in then select the grade (gives it time to vent i guess). Then pump normally and not top it off, just let it click. I then give a 10 count and take the nozzle out and try not to drip any gas on the paint. Haven't had any squirts so far.

Never had this problem. My Focus and Escape both couldn't take fuel too quickly.Turtle speed was sometimes too fast and would keep shuting off.Wasn't good when it was -40 here in Alberta.
