It's rare that they have a total brake failure like that, or maybe he was going for the hydraulic hand brake rotation thing (the R2 class is FWD), and that, or just the rear brakes failed when he pulled it. [dunno]

The only other thing I can think of is a TOTAL misreading/botching of the pace notes by the co-driver, but the driver could still see the turn coming up (one would think?).

The driver and co-driver may have ended up with some sort of concussions, due to the height and impact/sudden deceleration, but the cage in those things probably saved their lives, being so intensive, and STRONG. [wink] [thumb]

Yeah, I don't think it was brake failure. It was driver and/or navigator error.

That didn't look like a brake failure to me. He doesn't touch the brake until deep into the braking zone. He panic-locks all 4 (I think) and releases them to try another stab or to try to rotate the car. It sounds like he grabs a lower gear just before hitting the berm. Even the spectators are surprised to see him approach the corner so quickly.

I'll bet that the co-driver bough the beer that evening.

Yikes... Definitely looks like a miscommunication, or someone watched a few too many episodes of the fast and the furious before heading out...
