Mechanic used 5w30..Is this a problem?

I think some of you need to look at the oil specification for cars when they are in different countries.
I find it interesting when some cars here in America recommend 0W-20 but if the car was in Mexico it recommends 5W-30. Why do you think that is corporate average fuel economy. And please don't say heat because this also applies to Europe as well, and also many parts of America like Phoenix are just as hot as Mexico....

Yep and I'm not trying to be rude when I say this but if you don't understand why 5W-20 became a standard in America you're not much of a car person in my opinion.

It shouldn’t cause any issues. I run 5W30 year round, I’ve even know some guys put Rotella in their ST’s. Just switch back to 5W-20 next oil change

I don't see any issues with using any oil you want as long as people are willing to give up economy, power and incur possible warranty issues. I love the power I get from my MP-215 engine. Since I travel lots I love the economy (over 37 mpg hwy) and having no possible warranty issues since I am on a self imposed fixed retirement income. Others want max power and modify for it, and don't care about the warranty or mileage, I understand, been there done that. Priorities change. The EU oil designations are different than ours using different standards and many more of them plus they demand long oil change intervals for economy. Hell, the German cars have their own specs for oil over and above the others. Apples and oranges. Unlike the majority of the EU we in the USA have driving conditions from over +115 degrees in our deserts to -30 or more in our coldest states. US car makers want one oil to do both jobs, that is why when technology invented the additives and affordable synthetics to create newer oils like 5W-20, car makers rejoiced with a one oil solution. The fact our engine is so reliable is all the proof one needs to see the advances in oils and engine construction have changed. Some people are resistant to changes, took my dad 5 years after multi-weight oils came out to dump the single weights he always used because he did not "trust" them yet. LOL! Deja Vu all over again.

I use Castrol 5w30 in my ST always have and never had a problem, currently at 42k miles with a Pumaspeed "stage 1r" remap. Ford recommend 5w20 and 5w30 depending on what manuel you have

You are in the UK.......apples and oranges with oil ratings there and here.
