Hi all! My lease was coming due and decided to buy a brand new 2017 FiST base in pearl white platinum. Was hoping for the black with black wheels but the deal on the white was way too good to pass up. And since this is the last model year in the states it seems, there weren't many options around.

With winter around the corner and living in Buffalo, any suggestions on snow tires? Any particular preference/reason?

Thanks!
Katie

Welcome! Fellow upstate resident here, although no help on the snow tires, my FiST is stored in the winter.

I used to live in Cheektowaga. I don't have any advice on the tires, just get what you can afford. Just having winter tires of any sort is better than 99% of the people that drive in Buffalo.

Thanks everyone!
Haven't seen any other FiSTs on the road around me, Pirite, but I'll have to keep my eyes open. Since you know our winters, what tires do you put on for snows? Thoughts on the handling in snow/slippery conditions?

To be totally honest, I'm probably going to go to M&M U-Pull it and get a set of 15" wheels of a focus and get some general artimax or cooper weather masters through work.
Had the Generals on my last winter car and on a previous car to that and i loved the quality of ride, low noise, good wear, and traction for a good price.
If you end up sticking with the stock wheels, stock tires size youve got one choice, blizzak WS80s, for $135 a tire on amazon plus mounting and balancing.

Thanks! I know a lot of people say "anything will be better than nothing", but might as well do it right

I've done all seasons, and snow tires, and to be honest, after going with a dedicated set of snows, I wont go back to all seasons.
It's worth every cent of the cost as i have a not terrible commute to West Seneca every day, but there were days coming home that i know i would've lot it in previous cars if i didnt have snow tires.
safety > cost every time, and that not me saying that as a mechanic, thats as a car enthusiast.

^^^+1! IF I lived in an area which gets snowfall measured in YARDS at a time, and had to commute every day, I would not even consider all seasons for winter use!
