Hi,
I am an old guy who just got a Fiesta ST, its a loaded black one. I have a few mustangs and you can find me on the GT500 forum.
My Fiesta has a few bolt ons, just trying to figure out what they are and what they do. I am surprised how light the clutch is and the speed and response on the freeway, it is quite a fun car.
I'm in St Louis Missouri.

Thank you sir, I have a lot going on, I am very active on the GT500 forum as I have a GT500. I have different ideas about the Fiesta ST, first being it has a lot of NVH I suppose that is what it is from looking thru this site, because of the aftermarket RMM. It is an orange/reddish colored piece, I dont know who makes it but is is a larger RMM. The car "lugs" at low speed in 1st and sometimes 2nd gear, then the lugging goes away. I am assuming this is the NVH everyone is talking about. Can't back out of my driveway and take off smooth without the car lugging - best description is its like going 10 mph in 4th gear, the engine lugs. I at first thought I had a broken motor mount until I got on the internet and saw these aftermarket pieces and then looked under the car and there it was so I am guessing I need a softer or a stock RMM.

It has nothing but a panel filter and an aluminum coolant tank. I checked the spark plugs, they are stock. It has a whoosh upper radiator hose and looks like a cap on a vacuum(?) hose near the radiator that says whoosh, haven't figured out what thats all about. I am new to all this fiesta stuff.
It rocks and the lugging at low speed is worse with the air on, so I rev it and slip the clutch it goes away but does not make for a "normal" driving experience.

What you assume is vacuum cap is probably the symposer delete... You say plugs are stock, how many miles on the odometer? I never had lugging while stock with a RMM, and still don't after a tune and supporting mods🤷🏼‍♂️

My car has 70k miles. I'm new to fiestas, so I have no idea what NVH is "normal", expected, or as a result of RMM.
I do know this, that the car is very smooth once rolling into 2nd - 6th gears, showing strong (relatively) pull at highway speeds.
My car does what I would describe as lugging at low (under 15 mph) in forward 1st gear and reverse, and at a low (under 1500 rpm) maybe this is NVH. It certainly is movement of the engine and is noticeably more intense once you switch on the A/C.
So is the RMM issues NVH apparent at all speeds and all rpm's?

the RMM is intended to stiffen things up a tad due to if you launch or send the car on a stock motor mount the entire engine can move a lot more than it probably should and occasionally knocking into things in the bay. the rmm prevents that movement but depending on the brand, can add some NVH.

Lugging at low speed in 1st is definitely not normal. The car will roll and pull away smoothly in 1st at a dead idle when stock. But nobody changes the gearing on these. So the only thing I can think of that might cause lugging is a bad tune that offers no torque at low rpm.

What are you hearing or feeling that you are calling lugging?

Was there an accessport included or something plugged into the OBD2 port on the bottom left of the drivers side?

The best way to describe it is vibration, and the reaction of the engine to being say in 5th gear at 10 mph.......(lugging)...or being in the wrong gear. Also happens in reverse, so thats what lead me to the motor mounts. Does not happen all the time, but frequently. Again, only at low rpm. There is no access port and the OBDII is open (stock). There is a empty windshield mount but it is to the passenger side mounted high next to the mirror, which could be for anything. Appears just the stuff I noted in post #6 is what it has. Stock suspension, stock spark plugs, OEM muffler and exhaust, OEM wheels and tires, so I figure it to be lightly modded with the RMM and a few engine bolt ons.
What is stock idle for these cars?
Thanks.

that sounds weird as hell. i dont have a stock tune but idle is 770-830 rpm and i have a cp-e RMM, but if it has an aftermarket intake, or boost hoses (which i think the whoosh pipe may be) normally people dont leave it on the stock tune. Take a picture of your engine bay and we can probably puzzle out a bit more, but sounds like a tuning issue of some kind, it shouldnt lug like how you are describing unless like you said you are doing 10 miles an hour in 5th

I'm going to switch out the RMM to stock or a mountune unit and see if that helps, other than that I'll post up some engine photos once I get the car back as I have it in a friend's shop getting a little cosmetic work done. Thanks for the help on this Fiesta. Fender bender at gas cap area. IMG_8444.jpeg
