Hi all,

Almost to 80k and my first code (longtime listener, first time caller).

P013A - O2 Sensor Slow Response - Rich to Lean (Bank 1 Sensor 2).

Planning to replace the downstream O2 sensors. I’ll check the car to see if it has any damage too. And I’ll do the upstream as well since it’s recommended at 75k.

planning to order this socket set for the sensors: GOHAWKTEQ Automotive Oxygen Sensor Socket Removal Tool Wrench and Thread Chaser Set 5Pcs https://a.co/d/39LR8UX

any recommendations for the job? (Starting to soak in penetrating oil tonight.)

They’re pretty easy once you crack them loose, which typically includes some curse words. I don’t use any special tool, just an open ended 21 or 22 mm wrench (can’t remember which) but that may not work if you have the stock downpipe with heat shield still on.

The Chrome style Sockets will start to bend. Ask me how i know. So i ordered an impact style o2 Socket. The walls of the socket were clearly thicker than the chrome Version.

Oxygen Sensor Socket with Side Wire Cutout 3/8” Inch Drive x 7/8” (22mm) fits All Vehicle O2 Removal and Installation Offset Oxygen Sensor Socket https://a.co/d/5T8mgxQ

Ordered new O2 sensors, but now the code is gone for no reason. Might be a weather thing - I’ll see if it comes back now that it’s colder again

If it is temperature related, it sounds like the O2 sensor’s heater circuit going bad. One of the conditions that can trigger a code is when the sensor doesn’t come up to temperature quickly enough - when the sensor is not up to exhaust temperature, it will read more slowly and sometimes have an offset.

Good to know. Temps dropped again today (~45f), and sure enough - the code returned. I’ll be swapping the sensors out this weekend hopefully
