Way back in 1998, I upgraded the stereo system in my then new VW Passat. 50cs Infinity Kappa separates in the front, 6.5 Infinity coax in the rear (one is blown), dual JL freeair 10" in a ported box in the trunk, and driven by a 5ch 255a Kappa 50x4 + 300(bridged) amp (with built in crossovers).
I love the sound of the 50cs. Thinking of reusing these in the front of my FiST using 4ch of the 255a amp and the amp's active crossovers. Then doing a new, shallow 8 or 10" sub in the hatch (whatever is most suitable for 300W RMS - 2ohms, dual voice coil 8" maybe?)
I've never upgraded a modern, multimedia audio system and assume I need some kind of DSP to pass the signal to my aged amp. Front for front, rear for sub. Disconnect stock rears.
