Possibly M215 Issue

My MK7 Ford Fiesta ST was equipped by the previous owner with the M215 kit (with a certificate to verify). The boot badge and Mountune airbox are present and correct, but the OBD device originally included in the kit was not included with the car.

The suffers from an intermittent 'Engine Service Now' message and a yellow spanner light, with accompanying power loss. I'm almost certain it is induction related (combing the forums hasn't yielded any answers, many variables I know). It generally comes on after an hour or so of driving and resets with an ignition cycle, usually to return shortly thereafter.

All hoses, clamps and sensors have been checked/cleaned.

My question is, were the car to have been fitted with the Mountune parts but not received the associated ECU reflash, would this be likely to trigger the above errors?

I'm not sure whether or not the car received the reflash, I'm just spitballing ideas. As the OBD dongle wasn't included with the car, it's possible the previous owner bought the airbox and badge and fitted them without the associated tune.

I'd be extremely grateful for any light you can shed on this matter.

That airbox just gives the motor a bit more airflow and I can't imagine that alone would trigger a fault; if there's no tune then the extra throughput would be simply unused.

I would try to find/borrow and OBD2 scanner so that you know exactly which codes it throws. It could easily be something entirely unrelated to the upgrades.

That's what I thought. Codes aren't being stored, a regular obd2 isn't picking anything up, but I intended to get ForScan on it this week and hopefully it can point me in the right direction.

Since the MP215 came with the Cobb AP unit married to the car/tune in the USA I would think it would be the same there. So it could be it was lost/stolen, if the certificate matches your VIN the MP215 tune was installed at one time and you may can get another AP from Mountune to reinstall. Mountune does not sell the yellow exterior badges here they come in the MP215 kit and you register it with FORD when installed and it is added to your warrantied parts list for the car. If it is the same there I would think the dealer could pull up to see if the kit was installed and registered. It had to be installed by Ford or a Certified mechanic here and registered. I reinstalled mine after a battery change to make sure it was OK. It was........
The spanner (wrench here) is the oil change sensor. Have you checked your oil/pressure/filter?

Perhaps the EU spec cars are different but the wrench light and accompanying message can refer to a range of issues.

I picked up an appropriate OBDII and Forscan today and it showed code p2279 (screenshot below). No leaks that I can see and if removed and refit the airbox, ensuring the lid seals correctly.

I performed a "reset intake air throttle valve learned values" function and cleared the code, I guess we'll have to wait and see if it returns - watch this space!

Since you don't have the device, if your car is ever flashed back to stock (which can only be done by a FORD dealership as the tune is locked) then you will never be able to reinstall the tune without purchasing another device from Mountune. But you could by one from COBB and have a variety of tunes from which to pick, tho I'm not sure you would have the exact one from the 215.

Someone stole my device, and mountune was kind enough to sell me one for their cost with their tune installed for about 1/2 the cost of the whole caboodle, $500.
