Power loss after installing COBB stage 1!?!?

Op check all your Turbo and intercooler hoses. Some maybe loose and leaking air out.

Im sorta in the same boat, had an auto nissan sentra barely behind me getting on a freeway onramp the other day. That shouldnt even be close. All my clamps are tight, gonna check my OAR soon and see what that shows, but i also NEVER hit 21PSI, most i see is maybe 19.5, generally its 18.5PSI and its plenty hot here in AZ, 110 is the norm. Running 91 octane.

Stock IC + 110? + 91 octane = not full boost apparently.

Even when i drive it at night with 85 degree temps and pavement probably about 90 degrees i still see the same peak boost.

I've seen mine hit 20.5 PSI only once. Usually tops out at about 19.5. Went ahead and hit up the clamp screws again, while I was installing the RMM. I'll just have to wait and see if there's any improvement otw home, Today.

I'm running stock tune (not trolling, want an accessport) and I've seen spikes in torque pro as high as 22.2psi. Current screenie is of 21.9psi.

My car did the same thing. I loaded the stage 1 map and everything worked fine for 3 days. Day 3 the car felt slow and sluggish so I reflashed the map and nothing changed. I don't normally keep my AP in my car so I brought up the guages and went for a drive and saw that I was only getting 5psi boost from the turbo. I had to completely uninstall the AP and then reinstall it again. I took my car back out and was getting 20.58psi. I had no leaks so there shouldn't be any reason the turbo was getting enough pressure. Reinstalling tells me my car won't hold the tune or my AP is bad. Anyone else have this problem.

You're not the first. Cobb OTS maps have 2 switchable maps on them. You probably activated the "eco" tune without being aware. Here's a video that may help.

Awesome that would make sense. I couldn't figure out what was going on, I mean I was getting the best fuel mileage I have ever gotten but didn't realize I could switch it on and off like that. I use cruise control a lot when traveling to work and must have switched the maps accidentally. Thanks for the responses.

Since a year ago I have had to uninstall it a couple of times (servicing, after it was in the accident, etc) and i DEFINITELY notice a big difference. So im not sure what drugs i was on in July 2014 but i will cease using them.

As everyone else mentioned the OAR should be at -1. Think of this as a percentage, -1 being 100% of timing be added by the OAR table. If it is at -.5 you are only receiving 50% of timing from the OAR table.

When you upgrade to the Cobb tune you really are only gaining power down low compared to stock. Have a look at the dyno graph below, it compares factory tune versus Cobb Stage 1 tune. If you are racing your brother from a roll above 4,000 rpms you aren't going to be any faster than you were before. However if you are running him from low in the power range, the power and torque gains you get with the tune should show. If you are starting from a dig you are probably spinning more.



The turbo itself is one of the main reasons why this car is hard to make power on the factory components. Increasing the flow will add power but you aren't going to see HUGE gains unless a turbo upgrade or more knock resistant fuel is being used.

Here is a comparison of the my stage 1 tune, versus Cobb's stage 1 tune on a completely stock 2015 FIST. The second graph is my E30 tune versus my 93 Stage 1 tune. You can see the extra octane allows for it to pick up some more power up top.






Hope this helps understand where the power is had with tuning on the stock turbo/stock hardware.
