Ran keyfob through the wash, now car doesnt seem to recognize it.

Hello.

I lost my keyfob for about a week or two, not realizing i'd washed it. I've since disassembled it, wiped it down with rubbing alcohol, and replaced the battery. This fob now locks and unlocks the car via button presses, but won't allow the door to be unlocked via proximity (with key still in the pocket,) nor will it start the car, even if the keyfob is placed against the ignition area of the steering column.

The car battery still reads at 12.X volts. I could really use some help here, maintaining sanity. I really can't afford a tow to a dealer plus reprogramming. Am i out of options? Any suggestions at this point?

Get a replacement from Amazon and program it to the vehicle.
They're relatively inexpensive.
May not get the range or durability of the original.

This is my only key, so i cant use forscan :-/. I actually have replacements on hand, but hadnt realized i cant use forscan for a all keys lost situation, which seems to be more and more like the one im in

I have several OEM keys i was hoping to program, but now my only key isnt working to get in to accessory mode in order to program them.

You need an extended license, but you should be able to program those with Forscan it'll just be a pain since to need to erase existing keys

Im effectively in a "All keys lost" situation though, I need a working key to get in to accessory mode for OBD to actually connect, as i understand. Otherwise stealing cars would be super trivial.

To be clear or reiiterate, i have one key, it now only opens the doors, doesnt turn the car on or even to accessory mode. All other keys are lost, and this one doesnt start the car. My understanding is that this is the same as "all keys lost" as i have no keys that start the car at all.

I would try placing your key to the column stalk where the ignition tumbler normally would be, while connecting to Forscan... The nfc key shouldn't be affected by a wash when powered circuits weren't, though electronics are funny like that
