Aerospace 303 Protectant is great to rejuvenate faded plastics. It's more of an upkeep sort of thing than an outright solution but if you do it every week or two for a couple of months it'll hold that deep black for quite a while. On my Miatas and have used it on my door seals, dashboard, convertible top, etc. I think they've expanded their product line a bit now but I haven't checked in years.

I also have shin etsu grease which works wonders on window tracks and the sort. I'd probably suggest that for heavy duty weather seal treatment. That shit is amazing.

it makes sense that Miata guys would know about rejuvenating plastics, I’d imagine being top down all the time is hell on the interior materials.

Gloss, I also did all of the lower plastic ascents up front too. The grill is already gloss.

Very true. I've wondered why they made the grille gloss from the factory. I personally think a nice matte would've looked better. I still love it though. How the paint holding up? How many coats did you apply and did you use a primer or clear coat?

The coating is very durable, no issues to report. Water rolls and wipes off easy, biggest impact is no water or wax stains. No primer, just cleaned surface with thinner and laid ~3-4 coats.

What exact Shin Etsu product are you all using?

It is kinda like saying "I use Dow Corning grease"...

Shin Etsu makes a boatload of different products just like Dow Corning, which schmooo is the right schmooo?

I watched a video online about how high heat brings oils back up out of the plastic and "restores" its finish. Using a heat gun on it would work (that's what I saw the guy in the video use), I would even go a step further and remove the bumper & separate the valance itself. Once you've done it, I would definitely treat the plastic with something long-lasting, there's a million products out there, I personally love Chemical Guys Natural Shine trim dressing.

Resurrecting's this post since i am thinking of doing this to mine
Did you scuff up the plastic with scotch-brite / sand it before painting it or just clean the part the best you could then paint?
Did you add clear krylon fusion after painting gloss black or only this is gloss black
Thinking of doing the same, foglight cover, lower front trim and rear diffuser honeycomb and i like how your turn out
Debating if doing it myself like this or just take the parts out and take them to paint shop

Just cleaned it with soap and water. Just Krylon Fusion, no additional clear added. Still looks good, way better than the stock faded and marred wax look.
