the replacemwent strut didn't have the top bracket

Not sure why they sent it like this. Is it just a simple matter of removing the old bracket?

If you already have a raceland coilover and this is to replace a blown one, you'll need to wind down the spring perch until the spring is no longer under compression. Then undo the nut and remove the tophat and spring and the adjustment nuts. Then move them over to the replacement strut and reassemble. If lowering the spring perch all the way doesn't relieve all the compression on the spring you'll need a spring compressor.
