In the Sync menu go to settings -> phone -> set phone ringtone -> use phone ringtone instead of whatever its set to. That fixed it for me when I was on 3.0 Build 20204 and when I used cyan labs to upgrade to 3.4 Build 21194 one of the items fixed was this exact issue.
This fixed mine too

Cheapest fix is probably getting an iPhone and joining the i guys LoL

All joking aside, GL with finding the issue!

I recently replaced my LG V20 With a Samsung A52. Android Auto works much better. To be fair the V20 was released in December of 2016 a great phone at the time. The A52 was released in March of 2021. V20 flagship phone at the time, A52 mid range phone. Did a master reset before connecting the new phone android auto is fast now.

Off topic but if any of you have not upgraded to a 5G phone do it so much better. I'm better off not connecting to the Wi-Fi I damn near pay a $100 a month for.

I tried this, I find that it keeps resetting back to "ringtone 1" when I unplug my phone then plug it back in. It does not seem to remember the choice long term. Though when it remembers it seems to work when answering phone calls.

I think I will try a master reset on Sync, and possibly a reset on the phone ( Pixel 5 recently updated to Android 12)
