I just purchased a 2015 Fiesta ST a couple of weeks ago. It has about 550 miles on it. This is my first manual car so im not sure if this is normal or not. Sometimes when im starting off from a dead stop I will feel a slight bump when slowly letting the clutch out. Shortly after the bump feeling the car will start to move as the clutch grabs. The bump almost feels like the there is a lot of play in some driveline component...Or maybe this is completely normal and im just paranoid. Thank you in advanced for any help.

I had the same experience as you and still do sometimes, but if i focus on my footwork it doesnt happen. i think you personally just need to get used to the car and the way the clutch grabs, once it does(and it does very quickly) you should fully lift off, you might be lifting to slow? im not sure exactly what you're doing, but do you experience it EVERY time you start off?

I have noticed if I roll the car forward a bit then start to release the clutch I will feel the bump. But if I do not roll the car forward I don't feel the bump when letting off the clutch.

its the duel mass flywheel. Instead of the clutch plate having the springs in, the flywheel has the springs.

Hmm ok that I did not know. But how would a dual mass flywheel cause this issue?

Just a quick update. I called the customer care center and got a case opened up on this issue. I had my ST in the shop to repair a scuff on the front driver side rim and I had asked them to take a look at the bump feeling. When on the phone with the support rep he read the notes from the tech to me. Apparently the tech that drove it noticed a bump when he would let out the clutch fast. Well that would be expected lol. My issue is when I let out the clutch slowly I feel this bump. Anyways the support rep said he was going to escalate this case to the management team at the dealer and they will call me. I will post an update when I find out more info just in case anyone else is having this same issue.

Welcome, Kyle1457!

I recommend continuing to go through the break-in period (roughly 1,000 miles) and seeing if this changes. Your dealer will be in the best position to let you know if this is a normal characteristic of this vehicle or not. :)

EDIT: I didn't see your message right above this. I'll happy to check into your case at any time, just send me the case number (or your VIN and full name if you don't have the number handy) via PM.

Try turning the "hill holder off" and see if you notice a difference.

I did try disabling hill start assist. However it did not seem to help...
