I notice a smidge of a whine noise that kind of stays the same around 2k rpm, I'm actually getting my mechanic to install a rmm and new tranny oil this weekend aswell. Is this normal sound or is it something I should look more into??

Serious as a heart attack....mine started out in 4th then led to 6th and they had ford come out and look at it under warranty....Ford said just put a new one in....we don't wanna rebuild it.

Don't be like that just yet. I'm one of a handful of people who have experienced this exact issue. My ford dealership worked it all out with me, fully replaced the transmission, and even shot me an extended warranty. I couldn't be happier with my Fiesta now.

yeah the transmission has a whine but it's nothing to worry about. just the way theyre built. If you're worried about it change your transmission fluid to a better one other than fords.
