DI sound question

I know our engines are noisy, particularly our injectors, but could someone else tell me whether or not the injector noise/ticking phases in and out while at an idle. While waiting in a drive-through, I noticed the ticking my injectors normally make completely stopped at one point. Engine ran fine, no idle issues, nothing, and I didn't touch the throttle at all. Then, about 15 seconds later, the ticking came back in full force. I appreciate any thoughts you folks might have.

Was your ac on? It's possible when the ac kicked on it forced the rpm to go up a bit and make it quieter. DI is just loud.
