Former Honda owner here and currently still a fan. I'd love to own this, but I think I'm too old for a car that looks like this. Dont get me wrong, I love the way it looks. But if I were to step out of the Fiesta ST I'd probably move onto a VW, Audi or BMW.

That's blasphemy......

I don't care about the company at all except for where reliability is concerned. If the car is good, it's good. I think this looks just like the current type R except with a wrx front end. The car is great and fast. I've raced with one on the Nurburgring not 3 months ago. I don't care that every dipshit I went to school with had a civic with cut springs and a muffler delete. Honda makes some nice cars...or a nice car. I'd never buy a type R because it's too small and not AWD. My list of possible cars in the future are Audi S3 or Focus RS unless I move out west then I'd like to build a rally car (probably an old evo or wrx) and have a Toyota Tacoma. I like the GTI and golf R but I wouldn't get one because they're over priced and built like shit. My coworker drives a 2015 golf and he's had to replace every light on that car at least once already. His truck randomly won't open. Random stuff inside the car just falls off or stops working. I think on our way to rugby practice one of his vents broke with a simple adjustment. IMO the golf R is too damn plain looking. It's no fun.

Let's see. Around 34k ( current Type R costs approx that after conversion to $)for a FWD 340Hp car. Sorry, but at that price point I'd be going either RWD or AWD.i love he FiST, but a lot of that is he fAct that it's so light. The Type R will weigh around 3,200 lbs going by what the new Civics weigh. The ad even says they didn't add lightness, they added aggression. I can get a new V8 camaro for that coin.

My 2016 Civic sedan weighs 2740, curb. A fully loaded one is 2900 or so.

That's a bunch of HP for a FWD car. It'll be traction limited at a lower power level than what they're advertising. Now, if all you want to do is brag about the HP, great. LOL

Can I brag about doing 161mph in a 1/2 mile instead?

The 2015 Type R weighs 3040lbs and thats the Euro Version. Pretty sure by the time it comes to our shores and passes all NHTSA Crash regulations, the weight will balloon up around 100lbs or so. Previous gen Si weigh 3,000 lbs. Point being it will be a bit heavy and FWD, kinda like the FoST, it will have Revo Knuckle though.

What I want most is to look at the mechanical components (mainly engine and tranny) and say, "Damn, they built this thing to hold up and then some". Whatever the trick techs are to make for a highly durable and overbuilt street & track engine/tranny combo, I want for the CTR to have this and over the competition.

If this engine and drivetrain is anything like any other Honda performance-oriented setup...it should hold up very well. Just look at all the K20s, F20/F22s, even B series engines making huge power on stock internals and transmissions.

I get why people are disappointed in Honda since they haven't made anything worth a shit since they discontinued the S2000 in 09 and the last K20 Si in 2011. But I don't get why people are hating on a 340hp turbo Type R. This thing is going to be flat out amazing, and FWD or not, it's going to shit on a lot of cars in terms of handling and overall performance.

I have owned a wide range of Honda's over the years, and have always enjoyed their performance oriented cars. I'm looking for the CTR to be special, and perhaps my expectations are too large? If the CTR impresses me enough, I might consider buying one as a car to save and hold on to.

I'll keep my FiST as my "beater" toy, and then I'll hang on to the CTR as the 1st ever US CTR ever released. It's going to take something truly special though to make me want to spend the money on that though.

I'd definitely consider buying one, but won't pay a premium to have one when they're first released. Rather wait a few years and buy a mint low mileage example for way less like I did with the FiST.

^ True that.

One of my biggest regrets was not buying a 2009 NEW CR S2k for $26,000....lol. They couldn't give those away back then, and I could have picked one up for dirt in Houston.

I can respect it for what it is, but I sure hope the SI version is toned down from a style perspective.

This whole era of LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME!!! styling has got to go

I am sure it will be amazing to drive, but the styling is flat out hideous and cartoon like. Looks like the designer was about 12 years old drawing his 'dream' car.
I like the Fiesta as it is understated. Most think they are a regular Fiesta with a few body mods.

So true...Fiesta looks like an egg on wheels and very econobox to me...The worst part I find is that most folks confuse mine with a Prius...

I do think the FiST could use a bit more aggressive styling to it...Will be interesting to see what the new Fiesta refresh looks like next year...

What does it weigh, and what's the proposed price point?

There are MANY cars I'd rather own than this thing, even if it were affordable, but if it is in the FoRS's price range, there is NO contest as far as I'm concerned, 'JDM YO!' fanboyzz be damned!
10s google shows 2016 Civic Si at ~3000 lbs. Type R looks like they added 100-200 lbs, minimum

SWAG it generously at 3150 lbs and 340 hp (rumored) = 9.2 lbs/hp. Close to these numbers, ~35k MSRP and it should satisfy just about everyone. Nearest competitors will be the STI, Focus RS and Golf R (what else am I missing?)

Those are all AWD and will be able to lay the power down a lot better. Don't think I'd want to daily a 400whp FWD car that costs 34-35k.

IIRC this generation Civic is a bit lighter than the previous generation.

I'll definitely take a look I'm still a honda fanboy with my 15 V6 6speed as my d/d, my fist is weekend play thing. The other big thing for me is dealing with my honda dealership is light years better than the 3 local ford dealers.
