Okay, going to disable the Sony sound processing later today. [SCAMMER ALERT] a PC, and he downloaded FORScan. The problem I’m having is an intermittent distortion on the right front. I’m starting to think it’s the head unit. Sometimes it sounds great, and then I’ll get back in the car and the right front is distorted. Then the distortion goes away.

I’ve had the speaker replaced under warranty. That didn’t fix it. The car is a 2017 I bought used in October 2018. I discovered the previous owner had modified the audio system- removing the front kick panels, I saw where the speaker wires had been cut, and then patched back together. I thought that the spliced sections may have been responsible, they were non automotive wire with crimped wire nuts, so I redid the right front with TXL automotive wire soldered with heat shrink. Still have the problem, so that’s why I think something is wrong with the right front channel.
I would agree that it's likely the head unit at this point. If the previous owner couldn't even get the proper wiring and speaker adapters easily available, then I'm sure he didn't pay attention to matching the possibly different impedance or simply blasted the crap out if it and ruined that channel on the head unit. I'm just not sure if you can get that also covered under warranty with the wiring all shot, sounds like you got lucky to even get speakers covered honestly.

They already mentioned replacing the head unit. I don’t think they’ll ever look in the kick panels where the wiring was tapped.

Do you know where I can get more info on using FORScan? I went to my buddy’s last night, and hooked up his PC laptop. It connected ok, but I couldn’t figure it out. I need a step by step tutorial.

Update! Just found this link:

https://youtu.be/zHcoSn0A7ZU

Apparently, you have to become a forum member to get a license to use FORScan. That’ll be my next move.
Yes, that is the one hitch: you can't write any new functions until you submit for a free license, but it's worth it... After that you'll use the middle left column to select which module and the line numbers to change within there but there are also some semi-automated ones where there is actual text descriptions to make it easier, but many of the "good" ones like disabling the Sony processing you need to do right in the data line mode... Hope this makes sense and helps a bit!

Got the license, was able to connect and get FORScan up and running, but it fails to make any changes to the APIM and gives this error message:

“This adapter has CAN bus compatibility problems and can not be used in some functions.”

Looks like FORScan does not like my Chinese ELM327 WiFi adapter.

That is straight weird, I've used both a USB cabled and Bluetooth one with no issues, haven't heard of a WiFi one before. You might want to return that and stick with USB cabled or Bluetooth.

When dealing with ELM327 clones, the key is to find one that is a true copy of the original ELM327 1.0 chipset.

ELM Electronics goofed by not enabling copy protection on their original 1.0 release, which allowed fully-featured, nigh-identical clones to spring up practically overnight. Since then, they've learned from their mistakes, but even more clones have popped up that are of much poorer quality and not feature-complete. The only way to determine if one of these clones is a "true copy" without owning and testing it for yourself is through user reviews. If there are many positive reviews, you're likely good to go. It's for this reason (among many others) that I do not recommend buying an ELM327 OBDII adapter through eBay.
Then through Amazon with a good return policy, you're right in that the reviews will help you get a decent one. Just a quick search shows a 4.5/5 star Bluetooth one for $10.88, no need to spend more really.

Here is the link to the spreadsheet again, in case you didn’t see it. You will need a laptop running Windows, an OBD2 adapter, the free FORScan app with the free license, and some patience, skill, and intelligence so as to not brick your Fiesta.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16AV73FgxPnA15FdD30WQj-2NpqInSXTlRvccwJIKZTk/htmlview
Also, this thread for overall ForScan info: https://www.fiestastforum.com/threads/16439-ForScan-and-how-it-can-help-fiesta-focus-owners

Then, just use the Fiesta specific spreadsheet linked above if you don't want to get confused or too deep into the spreadsheets made by the F-150 guys, etc...

I know not everyone is a computer nerd, but there are some major things that can be done. Especially for the sound system I see people spending hundreds on trying to override the Sony sound processing with added sound restoring processors, etc when defeating the Sony sound processing is all but free and the right way to do it. Worth asking/begging a computer oriented friend to help if need be.

I contacted OHP, the mfg of the WiFi adapter that I purchased that doesn’t work. They offered a refund, or a new USB adapter. Good customer service.

I ran into something strange with my car. I went to disable Sirius XM and the Sony sound processing but according the spreadsheet, the Sony sound processing was already turned off. The hex value that needed to be changed was "2". I changed it to "0" and confirmed that the Sirius XM source was removed.

Me too. The value “2” that turns off Sony sound processing was already entered on my hex value too. I have a 2017, and I downloaded the As Built spec sheet, and confirmed that it came that way. I guess they figured out that the sound was better without it.

By the way, I was successful with a USB adapter to get it all working. I now have the ST splash screen and the climate control on the touch screen now.

Not every car had the same setting there, in other spreadsheets out there it says to take two off, so if you had a 2 to start with then make it zero, so that's correct... So Joey, if you left it at 2 you need to make it 0.

0= removal of satellite radio I thought? If I want to keep satellite radio and disable sound processing it would equal 2= ?
I just looked at the giant f150 spreadsheet and it says this as well?
