The front bar only takes 5 minutes to install. The rear can be aggravating sometimes if your not completely level. I put one on in 5 minutes and other time it took 45 trying to get things to line up.

Nirdv did you ever make it back? Did you get the bar installed? I'm planning on doing my Pierce front bar this weekend since we will finally have some decent weather. I would love to hear your impressions?

IF nirdv is in an area outside of the southwest, or deep south ([dunno]), and plans on running the tires year round with no dedicated winter setup, then the Sport Comp 2s, even with their 340 tread wear rating are way too summer-like for use in constant sub 40*F ambient temps. Those temps will end up freezing and crystallizing the rubber compound (and yes, even MUCH more so with one of the autocross/road race, 100/200 tread wear compound gummies). [:(]
So keep that in mind when suggesting pure summer donuts because you live where it never drops below 50* F. [wink]
My Mazda 5 ran the sport comp 2's for the 3 or so years they lasted. I drove in the NoVA/DC and Philly snow with them. My only gripe was flat spotting in the cold weather for at least 5-10 miles. I now have a used winter set of tires/wheels I picked up for it. I do like them. For the 2nd set, Costco did not have the comp2 size I wanted so I moved over the RE980's. I'm happy.

Were they the regular, 340 tread wear, summer SC2s or the 400 tread wear, SC2 ALL SEASONS??
I ask because the RE980s are an all season. [wink]

BFGOODRICH
G-FORCE COMP-2 A/S Ultra High Performance All-Season
Other than Snowmageddon 1 and 2, we don't get THAT much snow here. About every 5 years or so it's bad.

Yeah, those should be FINE in colder temps, given they are an M&S rated all season, [wink] [thumb]

I thought you were referring to the regular SUMMER SC2s in your post.

Yes. A Cobb Accessport is the same tuner as the Mountune one, but the Mountune one is restricted to just Mountune tunes, so it would be smarted to not buy it from Mountune. They pop up in the used market often enough, or some tuners bundle a tune and AP together.
A little correction, here.

The MP215 was a locked tune that could only be installed to one car, once. It was a Ford-approved tune, 50-state legal, plug-and-play, and it's a nice bump in torque and top end power. Better than the OTS Cobb stage 2, and the only part you change is the airbox, which, IMO, is the best one you can put on this car. It's a real CAI.

They still offer that tune, but the AP they sell now is a regular Cobb, and you can put any tune you want on it. They offer some custom data-logging and tuning when you buy it, like the other tuners.

These are good tires. I used them for about 3 years on a 400hp gti. I had trouble getting traction with them til around 45 mph or so but if your power isn't that extreme should be fine. Handling grip was great too. There's better tires out now tho for around same price. I didn't particularly like the look of the bfg either. Side walls were kind of notchy the way the tread was designed and just wasn't a clean look. Might not bother u tho.

I am pretty much set on tires, and did not go with the 205/50-16 SC2 all seasons for my Dekagrams mainly because they were not XL load rated, whereas the Neo Gens are in that size, as well as them being a little 'grippier' in the dry.

I had the both the 'old school', 1st gen tread pattern Comp all seasons, as well as the summer SC2s on different wheels when I had my '00 Z28, and yes, they were a decent, reasonably priced option for that car.

If I know had a stock ST hmmm I would not put in the Koni SRTā€˜s lol but to each their own.
I would probably get Meister R coils due the great results my friends have been getting with them. Most of my mods where thought out. There are a few things I would not buy that I did . Though its small parts. I would get an accessport a FMIC . A exhaust ( to better hear my car) Oh wait I did most of this stuff including coilovers ST XTA. Definitely a LSD which I am getting. I love my 16ā€™s with 45 series tires it really made the car ride plush but it still handles insane.
I have to second this. Get yourself a set of Meister R GT1's and set them to full soft. It's like riding in an 80's Cadillac Eldorado (not quite but you get my drift) lol.

I just bought a Fiesta and itā€™s a firm, feel every bump car. I just drove one one in January and fell in love. I have one now and for sure itā€™s a hot rod compact that reminds me of a 16v swapped 84 Rabbit GTI, only way better. Itā€™s still an econobox with power and stuff springs. Itā€™s definitely as comfortable as a primitive hot hatch can be. Youā€™d hate an old Rabbit.

I had an '83 GTI, but without the swapped 16V.
I had a 16V right from the factory in my '89 GTI. [wink]

I had an '88 (left over '87) Scirocco 16v. That thing was fun! When it wasn't broken down for some reason or another. Looked a lot like this but with much smaller Euro bumpers, tinted windows and much better wheels. I almost miss it but it was a money pit.

^^^My A2 GTI 16V had those same 'teardrop' wheels from the factory, but I got 3 sets of Revolution 5 spokes for it, for various different functions (working rallies/winter use, autocross, and street/daily driver stylin'). [wink]

I had a 1991 gti with a 16v swap. Also found some BBS RA and Recaros for it. It was lighter than the factory without the power windows etc. Weighed around 2200 lbs without rear seat/AC. The reliability just did not hold up with the miles I had on it. Look great and was a lot of fun. I feel the Fiesta really is the true successor to this car. Similar handling at a higher level. Volkswagen lost their way after the Mk2. And they got the GTIā€™s got heavier and less responsive after.

The GTIs that model year came from the factory with a 16V head.

Did you have a full-on Oettinger swap, or do you mean that you had a base Golf and swapped a 16V into that, making your own GTI?? [???:)][dunno]
I found a GLI donar car. Engine swaps are popular for these cars. I miss these early boxy/ angular car designs.
