We wish to gain the thoughts of forum users with regards to any EBC Brakes products you have used. Whether the feedback is positive or negative, We want to hear from you.... No sales or advertising in the forums, just assistance.
Thanks for the request for info!

I have been using a set of EBC Yellow pads for the last 2 years. They are alright in pretty much every way, nothing amazing and twice the price of the Ford/Motorcraft pads for similar performance.

On the street
-dust is the same as the both the high temp/all-season Ford/Motorcraft pads (I have tried both sets)
-Initial bite is a bit less than the both Ford/Motorcraft pads
-no noise on the street
-no issues getting pads up to temp at -20F in Minnesota winters, so they are a good all season pad

On the track
-Track use is interesting (Dakota County Tech College in Rosemount, MN - less of a race track more of a large autocross, max speed is ~90mph in the FiST), they work great for the first portion of the first session, but are quickly overheated. I think this has to do with the torque vectoring and other driver aids that cant be fully disabled. I burn though 1/2 set of pads (both front and rear) in 5 15min sessions (1 day), including causing the backers to warp slightly and the trailing edge of the pads to chip out.
-This is probably a decent pad for autocross where it is one quick lap and you are done for 10-20 min as well as not needing to get the pads hot to function, they don't work very well for multi-lap sessions, and I can imagine on a real track (larger than DCTC) they would be even worse that my experience.

Thanks
Ben

Welcome. Always glad to see a vendor reaching out! My experience with your products has been minimal. I've been modding cars for 30+ years & your reputation back in the day (Y2K era) at VWvortex was that your pads were chewing up rotors. I actually bought a set of RedBox pads and never put them on my 01 Jetta at the time. I switched to Hawk HPS pads and never looked back. But i was I young and stupid then. Not so young anymore....

Coincidentally, I'm having an odd issue with the Hawks. I JUST purchased a kit from R1Concepts to give their pads & rotors a try. I like R1 for their price but also for their transparency. They make it VERY clear what EACH of their pads are made of. Hawk does not.

Because you reached out to our lil hole in the web, I dug into your website to discover EBC does describe the pad compounds! That was good to see. I will let go of my biased youth and try EBC when my other car is due! Had you posted last week I would have given EBC another try immediately, but I placed my order with R1 just this past Friday.

I ordered their semi-metillic pad to see for myself what an aggressive pad will actually do to a slotted rotor. I also want to hear what the noise is like and if the braking performance really is worth the typical metallic pad issues. I believe the EBC equivalent would be the Yellow stuff pad. Reading the description, it sounds like you may have found a magic compound that may provide metallic stopping power without the noise and dust. Hmmmm. Come summer I'll have the FiST on R1 metallics and the FoST on EBC Yellow stuff. I'm excited to see what the differences are!

Oh and that break-in coating sounds amazing!

I do not now, nor have I ever used your products in the past.

But since you are 'reaching out' with this post, I do have a question about your ROTORS, since I AM interested in trying them for the brake job I must do VERY soon.

Is there ANY way to know which specific model of, and application of YOUR rotors are actually CAST (not just 'finished') in England, vs. other countries of origin, BEFORE actually receiving them, and looking on the box labels?? [dunno]

Hi Ben,

Thank you for your detailed feedback which I have read with interest. I am sorry to hear that you were not overly happy with the track side of things. We would like you to try our BlueStuff Pads, have you ever tried these?

about to put your rotors and yellows on my car. A lot of guys use the Yellows and there are a number that use Yellows in the rear and Orange up front. Most of those guys are track guys or autocross.
Thanks, great to hear, any problems or any advice you need, let us know....

Thanks for coming back to us and for the feedback you have provided. It is always pleasing to know that an old opinion can be changed and this is exactly what We are here to do. I would be interested in hearing your thoughts when you have tried our more recent pads......

I have Both front and rear EBC USR slotted rotors and Yellow pads all the way around* Is there another Pad that you guys have that give more bite? I have no issue with the Yellows that I currently have. They are smooth braking with good pedal modulation. I do get occasional noise when braking but that doesn't bother me .Dusting is minimal ...again I don't mind the dust either. Overall I am a satisfied customer who speaks very highly of your product when others ask as I have had no Quibs or Quarrels about the whole setup.

Thanks for the Quality product!

Hi, Thanks for coming back to us with your feedback. We are always happy to hear that a customer is enjoying our products and with a slotted disc, have you thought of trying our BlueStuff pads, these would give you 'more bite'?

I've been using Green and Yellow for years - thanks. No noise, low dust, good grab. Also, I get my EBC's from RON at WOOSH. Are EBC's Mintex from back in the day?

Happy enough with them that if and when I'm in the market for brakes on the FiST, I would consider EBC, though with a street-only car, I'm not sure the OEM has anything particularly wrong with it.
Thanks for letting us know, When you do have them on the FiST, let us know your thoughts please.
