Ceramic Coat - Wow!

You're not going to have any clear coat left if you keep polishing that car.
I know you know your stuff, but I've watched plenty of detail videos on people who do this professionally and make a lot of money who won't even use compound on modern cars.
Cars today have very thin clear coats.

Do you use a meter to make sure you have enough clear coat left to keep using abrasives?

^^^One of the reasons I am almost afraid to use even a gentle clay bar on this paint/clear coat! LOL

I just clean/wash it as best I can, and then use Collinite 845, or the Detailing Products equivalent at least once a month, with good microfiber everything, and hope for the best.
This car sits out in the weather 24/7 365, it cannot be garaged at all, and is an ONLY car, daily driver, it is NOT a weekend only, summer use garage queen.

There is only so much I can do to keep it 'perfect', and futilely trying to is like shoveling the proverbial shit against the tide.

I can live with 'incorrect' paint, I cannot live with NO paint/clear coat, at least not until I can afford a full, GOOD (NOT a Maaco/Earl Scheib shit job) repaint of the whole car, long after it is paid off.

The amount of cutting and polishing you have to do to burn thru clear with a DA is insane, chicago auto pros has a video of it, you have to do like 50 passes of heavy cut where each pass is 2 swipes horizontal, then vertical, to burn thru clear. I've corrected my fiesta twice already and ceramic coated it myself, no issues.

It's not about burning through the clear coat it's about leaving enough clear coat to provide protection for the life of the car.

The gentleman below who I like has multiple videos talking about thin clear coat, and the minimum thickness and he actually measures all of this stuff.
