Tweaking Rear Dynamics?

Hey there!

Super, super excited to be an ST owner. Still have a few more days left in my Carvana grace period for evaluation (need to make a final call on the little bit of rust and corrosion I'm seeing) but that's for another thread if anything. Overall I love it as much as I thought I would, but I have some clear wants coming from my modified 2015 Fiesta non-st.

Though it's obviously slower, my 2015 Fiesta just feels perfect loaded up in the corners. And I feel a lot more confident than at similar speeds with my ST. The back is rock solid, no body roll to speak of, and just generally has that on rails feeling some people like. And it lacks that sort of twitchy floatiness I can feel in the ST during mid corner adjustments. For reference it's on H&R Super Sport's (2+ inch drop at this point) with 17x7.5 wheels and 215x45x17 Indy 500's. Not super fresh tires and laughably the stock shocks and struts which have to be toast at 90K miles, probably 60Kish with the springs installed. It's really damn low. But it feels shockingly great in mid to high speed cornering.

Seems sensible that a hefty drop would noticeably mitigate body roll among the other cascading effects that change comes with, is that all I'm after here? I see some consistent conversation around just swapping rear struts to something a bit stiffer or adjustable to rein in that bounciness (?) or just proper bracing, stiffening, or tire pressure choice in isolation, or just a little bit of everything mixed together. I realize it all also comes down to taste and your preference around tendency to under / oversteer among other things to put it quickly.

To simplify, less body roll and less "rebound" (for lack of a better term) during mid corner adjustments feels like what I'm after. And I could see how springs are a good way to touch a few of those areas all at once. But that's also all I'm used to and am open to considering pretty much whatever.

you might want a set of camber plates as your non ST Fiesta came with a 1.5 degree negative camber twist beam and Ford dialed that out of the ST by putting in a twist beam with only .5-.8 negative camber per factory specs for the FiST. It will not slide as much but it will allow you to go through corners faster as you rear end is more planted.

That seems like a spot on observation then. I've seen the threads on rear camber plates and their advantages, didn't know they differed from the factory between ST and non ST though. I'll probably have to give that a try!
