Fiesta ST Cobb Accessport Launch Control

Can anyone explain to me how Cobb's Launch Control works. I haven't actually tried it yet, but from what I gather, while your foot is on the clutch, you throttle to 3000-4000rpm while holding down on your cruse control 'ON' button. Launch control kicks in once you release the clutch. Is this right? Why couldn't you just hold the clutch in and hold the throttle between 3000 and 4000rpm on your own? This is the first car I've ever owned with Launch Control, so maybe I just have it all wrong. Could someone please explain the function to me in detail?

1. Press clutch pedal. Hold.
2. Car in gear.
3. Press CC button. Hold.
4. Smash the Accel. Watch car rev to 4k and hold on it's own.
5. Let clutch out. Simultaneously release CC button.
6. Pee your pants.

ftfy.

Why would it shatter your driveshafts? If you can manage to do that with this car, you've had issues from the factory. You'd need a relatively high amount of HP, solid mounts and a metal clutch disk.

What exactly does this do?
Simply put, launch control cuts your throttle in and out, allowing you to hold revs at 4k (or whatever it's set at). The point? So you don't have to do it yourself. Also, it can be tuned with a few lbs of boost allowing a faster take off; something that can't be done with your foot alone.

LOL! Thanks, Hijinx! I'll try to make sure I'm plenty hydrated for step #6. I found this video:http://youtu.be/ENAGrYfqybU... And although it doesn't offer an explaination, I think I've figured out what's going on. Basically, the COBB tuner temporarily assigns your car a new rev limit of 4000rpm just before launch.

Here's a video of some rally cars launching using Launch Control:http://youtu.be/J8-BzKowvTI

So apparently adding launch control to your car is a little more complicated then simply downloading one of the preset maps off your Accessport. Can someone walk me through adding launch control to your Accessport? Hijinx, I like how you break it down step by step.

I was under the impression that if you reflashed your car to a v103 map it would automatically come with the launch control

So was I, until I spoke with a COBB rep about it this morning while ordering their rear motor mount. He used a lot of verbage I didn't quite understand, so I was hoping someone could walk me through it step by step.

I'm currently running the Stage 1 v102 91 map, but I'll look into the v103 map.

Uploaded the 'Stage2 93 v103' map and still no launch control. What gives? Which map are you running?

Okay, so I FINALLY figured it out. In order to add Launch Control, you must first download COBB's Ford Accesstuner Race (ATR) software. You can do that here: http://www.cobbtuning.com/Ford-Accesstuner-Race-p/atr-for.htm . Yes, it costs $149.00... Kinda' disappointing after I just spent $500 on the Accessport. Any how, after downloading the ATR, you can simply add Launch Control to one of the off the shelf maps found here: http://www.cobbtuning.com/Accesspor...00.htm#/v/accessport/maps/ford/USDM-14-Fiesta, then load everything onto your Accessport and reflash your ECU. Easy as pie, right? ************!

Hijinx is right, the new tunes include launch control. I am running the stage 2 93 v103 tune and it has the launch control set at 4k. Accesstuner Race will allow you to change the 4k limit if you wish. But it's already in the new tunes.

Hold down the cruise control launch control and mash the gas to the floor.
