Performance degradation happens so slowly that it's hard to realize how much of a difference it makes, but once it's done you'll notice it. It costs me $250 from a local guy for Walnut blast. If it cost close to $1000 then I'd say it's not worth it yet
Ill keep an eye on it but so far im not seeing any ill effects toward the car on track. Lap times are the exact same now as they were 15-20k miles ago.

If it does start to degrade in the performance ill go out and find another shop or vendor.

Small update, the reddit guy forgot to make pictures of his valves ( the one that used the catch can) so no bueno. Didnt remember if his valves were dirtier then mine or not, but he did clean them ( thus, not perfect).

Also, this is the final result on my car after bit of wrenching and 10$ of carb cleaner

If I'm honest, for me, it wasn't a massive difference. Just enough to notice. I'd would do the same thing if I were in your shoes.

I wonder if a greater difference is noticed when the car is highly modified. What mods do you have?

The shop is in NH, so you can hit the slopes afterwards!
I don't (downhill) ski, but I could add a day onto my trip up to NEFR in July, based in (ironically) Sunday River resort, and get it done on the way there. [:)]

IF we got any type of long term snow cover here, in Pennsyltucky, like the northern N.E. areas do, I would definitely take up cross-country skiing. [thumb]

That knowledge would be invaluable to the FiST community.
Kidnap him, and make him spill the beans! [ridinghorse]

No bloody way you can take off the manifold without taking off the alternator. Sorcery i say!

I had to clean poly ticks off of an intake valve prior to installation. 🤡

See...

All things lead to poly ticks. 😆
I want pop rocks now.

Wasn't there a documented case of someone on here with 100K (mostly highway) miles in like 2 years that borescoped the valves and saw little build-up? I haven't noticed degregation on my car with 66K, but I also run it hard. Still pulls and spins into 3rd depending on weather.

That looks pretty amazing compared to where it was. I assume you turned the engine over by hand to successively close each valve as you went down the line? The “front” of the engine at the crank is accessible to get a socket on?

Yeah, by hand but no no room avaliable for a socket. The only! thing i could get on there was a plum wrench. Turning the engine was very easy.

Vaguely recall something like that. I think he was on stock software settings and hardware though.

Carb cleaner. Spray into closed valves, take a smoke break, nylon brush and suck the slurry out. Repeat 5 times. First I used compressed air but learned quickly that even with protection that stuff is so aggressive it burned like hell on my skin. So sucking is best.
Did you vacuum it out? Also, do you happen to know which way the engine turns? I am going to try to do this to my fiesta at some point in the not too distant future.
