I reinstalled the OEM slave cylinder on a 2016 ST because the after market new slave cylinder leaked. It has 85k in it and I really wanted to change it but the OEM part is on back order here.

The clutch hose has the original correct grommet/o-ring installed - it kind of snaps on.

Problem: When I try to push the hose into the slave cylinder, it does not go fully in (and I pushed pretty hard). Without the o-ring it feels a bit loose.

as an additional annoyance, I have to fish out the o-ring after each try.

Is it supposed to require a lot of force to get the hose back in and seated?

TIA.

It was LUK which is surprising sine they OEM for Ford. Who knows, it could have been a returned item.

the original that I reinstalled was factory. This is the one I have been having problems seating with the grommet reinstalled.

You got pics? Sounds like you probably have an old oring stuck inside which is leading to stacking with the new one
