Rear Axle Bushings and Oversteer

My car is knocking at the rear and I'm considering upgrading the OEM axle bushings to Powerflex item (ease of fitment, longevity and lack of needing to tension before tightening up are the main draws over going OEM again).

I love the cars tendency to liftoff oversteer and imagine Ford engineers designed the OEM rubber bushings to influence this behaviour in some way (or maybe not).

Can anyone who's fond of getting a little sideways in their FiST shed any let on whether the cars behaviour in this regard was altered when switching to polyurethane rear axle bushings? I'd really like to hear some feedback before I pull the trigger and order them.

Yep! Mine has the powerflex black and I almost spun first autocross run with them.

Ha, that sounds like fun! Some guy on YouTube said the Powerflex reduced the oversteer which I why I asked, but you've put my mind at ease - time to order!

Well sir, I can report with some confidence that Powerflex rear axle bushings most definitely *will* accentuate the cars natural oversteering tendencies (having just done a 180 on the first roundabout I approached!). Something to get use to, less of a sway and more of a snap from the rear, more delicate throttle and steering inputs required compared to worn OEM bushings (and mine were knackered at 70k miles/10 years old). My rear tyres are pretty worn so fresh rubber would tame things no doubt.

Other first impressions include more positive steering/turn in and of course the dreaded knock resolved.

Despite the utter ballache of fitting (truly terrible, ended up removing the rear axle entirely...in a supermarket carpark...), I would say I'm happy so far!
