Hi guys! First post on this forum, as I just took ownership of my 2016 FiST last Friday. Ford was offering a special that I just couldn't refuse. I look forward to learning a bunch about the car as I read through here. I am enjoying it already! I also have an AP on the way (first mod), and only have 300 miles on the car. Lol.

Would anyone like to share their experience on breaking their engine in, and at what mileage they started racing it? I'm still hesitant to go wot, as she is still so new.

Holy crap! Really! That is literally a stone throw away from me. And I would honestly love to, but I just don't know if it's the best idea to be beating the piss out of my car before it's broken in. Lol. We should meet up some time!

Welcome from another owner of a new (800 miles on it) '16 Kona Blue. Break-in is a topic on which there are a lot of conflicting opinions. The manual just says vary your speed for the first 1000 miles and don't use special break-in oils. My mechanic friends say don't hammer it and don't baby it during break-in. Some feel that a car should be redlined during break-in, I'm not comfortable with that and my mechanic friends agree. I'll do a break-in oil change soon at 1000 miles with the Motorcraft synthetic blend which I am told is factory fill, and will then drive it however I want, which will include plenty of redlining it. At my first regular oil change I will switch to full synthetic, probably Mobil 1 EP.

You're welcome,it's good to know others are thinking the same as you are. The car is a lot of fun, you're going to enjoy it.
I am enjoying it so far! Although, I came from a Mazdaspeed 3 with 400whp, so it feels a little underpowered. Lol. But I love the way it handles and the fuel economy so far!

I came from an M3 with about 360 whp, but I'm not missing it at all, this car is much more fun. It is interesting how many serious car guys end up with an ST.

I'm starting to not feel special (1600mi 16 kona blue) in NY.... I am in NYC, the best method to break in a car is the method you end up feeling satisfied. That being said I loosely, and closely.. depending on which sentence, followed the guide on this forum by pelotonracer2, at 1600 mi I plan to do my 3rd engine oil change, and first gearbox oil change, then at 5k I will switch to full synthetic. Is the sticky gone? I can't seem to find the thread, but knowing how everyone wants to be the engine expert, I wouldn't be surprised if it happened due to conflict of interest.

Welcome aboard!

Unlike you MS3 guys I came from a MK6 Golf R as my highest performing vehicle. This car is a riot in comparison.

I recommend a RMM as soon as possible. I use a CP-E and its NVH is pretty drastic, however, I also driven a lot of solid mount cars so it doesn't bother me TOO much. Many have said COBB and Mountune has the best NVH.
I am running COBB stage 0 (stock) tune, and will change it to stage 1 once I get my fluids changed, need to borrow a lift to save some effort.
